Parallax is when you step sideways a near object seems to move further across your vision than a distant one.

In astronomy this happens when the Earth orbits the sun and we look at distant stars. Nearer ones move more than further ones so their positions against each other change slightly, we use this as one way of measuring their relative distances from us.

Parallax is the distorted image effect of an object because of the heating of the air from near the ground
