Some of it is due to injuries--Giambi is out and Damon is banged up and the rotation has had a lot of injuries throughout the year also. What do you want them to do, trade some more young players for high priced vets so they have absolutely no future players that they developed on there own?
It's hurt to say it as I am a Yankee fan, but why not play some of these guys this year and see if they can play or not. They have no chance at the division, and a slim chance at best for a wild card. Why not evaluate talent the rest of the year and see what they can do.
The Yankee teams that won World Series' were led by many players they drafted and developed on their own--Bernie, Jeter, Pettitte, Rivera, etc. The reason they haven't won the past 7 years is because they brought in way too many high priced free agents--Giambi, R.Johnson, Damon, Jaret Wright, Pavano, etc. You still need to develop some of your own players and then add in the right free agents to go with them. But plugging holes every year with big name free agents just doesn't work!

The Yankees have had a ton of injuries and a lot of inconsistency when it comes to pitching, defense, and hitting. With the exception of A-Rod, Jeter, and Posada, the Yankees are not playing well at all. They have to get better pitching, better defense, and a more consistent offense to have a chance at catching Boston or making the Wild Card.

Time caught up to an old franchise that did not improvise.
Should have kept Shef and got rid of some of the others.
Giambini is not good and it shows.
Sorry.

People questioned why Randy Johnson wanted to leave New York. Enough said. D-Backs in first, Yankees can't even play .500.

Don't sweat it. Now that interleague play is over for a while, they can go back to losing to the worst teams in the AL. Well, to most of them. They can't play themselves.

The Kings are dead!!! Let's all celebrate!!! Let the Yankee fans cry and make excuses for a change. They stink, and the future does not look that hot, either.
How SWEET IT IS!!!!
