A> The mass determines the temperature, the color and the length of life for a star.
C> In some cases if the binary system is too close, the more massive star can sucks matter from the companion, changing the mass of both stars, and changing the life length too.

The answer would have to be it's mass, however its composition has to do a lot with its lifespan. The more hydrogen the longer it will 'burn', the higher it's temperature and the 'bluer' it will be. You can have a star formed by heavier elements that'll have the same mass but a much shorter life.
Also how close it is to its partner if it has one will affect how it will develope.
So if this is a multiple choice question the answer is A but it is a poor question because there are a lot of factors that contribute to the longevity of stars.

The simple answer is A.)
However, the most important factor is its composition. If it has large amounts of minerals within the core, its mass may not truly reflect the total amount of hydrogen contained within the star, and that is, after all, what the star is using in nuclear fusion to create its intense heat and light energy.

actually its mass as well as its temperature.the fact tht how the star burns up its mass determines its lifespan.
a neutron star is only afew miles in diameter, but its quite alot dense.sometimes even more than the sun.
oh and the thing u said about its colour - its colour dependz on its temperature.....
the hotter it is,more it'll look blue.
the cooler it is,more it'll look red.
