You'll be just fine. Just make friends with the people you are sharing a cabin with.

Besides, you're a Red Sox fan! Who doesn't love a Red Sox fan!?

I went to summer camp for two weeks every summer from when I was in 5th grade to 9th grade. I am very shy around people I don't know and tend to only have a few close friends. I still had a great time at camp every year though. There will almost certainly be other people at camp who don't know anyone there. At the camp I went to, and most others I would think, the first day or two the counselors try to introduce the campers to each other and get you all to talk to each other. Just try to be friendly to everyone and you are bound to find at least a few people to hang out with. Most of all, don't worry about making friends. Just have fun and be yourself and I'm sure you'll end up with friends and have a great time.

Three weeks at camp! Good for you. I wouldn't worry about making friends. A lot of your campers will be the same situation as you are. The camp counselors will do their best that everyone will fit it. Just don't be too weird, snobby, nosy, or smart alecky in your attempts to make friends. Sometimes new situations causes us to over compensate. You will be involved in a lot of activities where you will have to interact with others. You'll meet them in the mess hall and also at night around the campfire and when it's time to go to bed. A lot of chatting goes on before (and after) lights out. Just be yourself and don't be pushy. Enjoy yourself and send me a t-shirt. You could easily make life long friends.

When I was younger I went a camp too for about a month I think it was. I was afraid I wouldn't make any friends either, but I joined in group activies they had at the camp like horse back riding, swimming, trails, and more and started making new friends that way or some girls would just walk up to you and start talking like alot of my cabin mates, I made alot of friends each year I went, I bet you will too just believe in yourself and have a great time.

Shanking is pretty common among teens so i would not make a huge deal about it but for a preschooler to be doing it, it should have consequences. If the camp director said the staff won't hide things and they did you should go straight to the camp director and say you claimed the staff never hid anything but they hid something from me. He will say sorry or whatever then say i expect a full refund of my money and my son to be switched to a different class. You might be over reacting about the whole shanking thing but not about the camp director misleading you. Hope this helps

I'm going to sleepaway camp for three weeks this summer also! you'll make friends believe me.

just be outgoing, and show intrest in things that the other kids are doing. everyone makes friends at camp.

this might backfire, but you could bring something intresting or wear something intresting like a big necklace and it will draw attention to people as a convo. starter.

I'm sure that your going to make lots of new friends when you are there. Your going to have so much fun.

Just get involved with as many things as you can. Talk with the other people there and relax. Ask them for help once in a while as people usually like to be a help to one another. You can ask them where the are from, since maybe not everyone will be from close by.

Just start talking with people around you, if you open up and relax you will make lots of friends. Ask others what kind of music they like or what kind of movies they are into. Remember that people like to talk about them selves, so get them to open up and start talking with you.

Relax and enjoy the fun!

so am i! i am flying from california to wisconsin for three weeks. i dont know anyone there either.

all of the camps i have been to, your counselor ussually makes some sort of way for everyone to meet eachother and get to know eachother [for example, you all might get into a circle and share your interests, say your names, and play some sort of game]. dont worry about not making friends i have a 99% gaurentee that as long as you are outgoing [not annoying] but outgoing and willing to be friends with someone they will eventually grow on to you and get used to you so that you guys will have normal conversations. dont try to be someone you arre not though!
i personally think it is best to go to a camp alone because then you are not attatched to one friend, no one there knows you so they cant make fun of you or judge you, and if you go with a friend, you are bound to have fights with them eventually.
i bet that you will have fun and meet some friends!

First of all, I feel compelled to ask, why is this question asked in the subject Dancing?

But, regardless, I would recommend simply going up to someone and striking up a conversation. Good Luck!

~With that attitude, you are probably correct. Why not embrace the experience and condescend to meet new people? How? Approach them and be real. Don't try to impress or be a Prima Donna. Hey, won't they be in the same boat that you are in? Don't wait for someone to come to you - chances are, the won't.
