Yes you can cure it. The infected pokemon has to be in your party and after 1 day or a bit longer, your pokemon will be cured and unable to transmit the disease. If you keep an infected pokemon in your box, it will not transmit the disease but will keep it forever.

no and it spreads with pokemon that share a box with it and the pokemon in that roster with it but it is said to inhance your pokemon's skills.
