XKE? The XKE, or E-Type, went out of production in 1975. You must mean the XK8. These had a fair number of problems when first introduced, especially with engine and transmission. But recent cars have been very good.

As I've heard. They used to have a problem with the electrical system. Since Ford took them over, I think that they have improved quite a bit. Right now Jag sales have really dipped, so you may be able to get a good deal on a new one.

One thing to think about is that it is expensive to have them worked on. There are a lot more Chevy dealers out there than Jag dealers.

FORD now owns JAG, so there you go. Reliability depends on maintainance and driving conditions, as well as driver.English made cars are famous for electrical problems, but then so are 'vettes.
In 20 years, which one do you think would be more valuable?
I believe I would garage the Vette, and buy something else as a driver, if you can.
