It will depend on whether or not you have a family history of breast cancer. If you have a family history like I do the drs start you at 35, and some may have you do it every year others every other year like my dr will have me do.

If there is no family history or you don't have a problem with your breasts the mammograms will start at age 40.

Please check with your dr as well for additional information.

My doctor told me between 35 - 40 is when I should start having mammograms every year. If you have a history of breast cancer in your family (especially in your parent, sibling, or child), closer to 35 would be best, but of course earlier if you feel a lump when doing a self-exam. Best wishes.

Usually around age 40 unless there is a mass found on physical examination. Then they may do one for diagnosic reasons.
