Here's what I think would happen.
America would lose its rights and the Constitution and all that would be irrelevant. There is no voting and all privelages are taken away. People complain, riot, ***** and all that. Dictator doesn't budge. After a few assassination attempts, dictator still is strong and hopefully alive. Dictator announces he has taken away rights because people abuse them as you've already seen on the posts to my question. Dictator waits till all americans grow up and act some what mature. People learn not to take their freedoms lightly, dictatorship ends.

All this would happen depending on who thinks like me or not. If I was dictator that's how I would do it.

If it's a GOP dictator, the right wingers would be for it and would say it had to be that way because the country was gittin too liberal. They'd start wiretapping Americans, watching what you do on the internet, hide large sums of taxpayers money, choose judges that are party loyalists, and anybody speaking out against the government would be blacklisted and mysterious things would happen to them.
If it's a dictator like Hugo Chavez, probably the rich would leave with their money and the country would be a real basketcase with high inflation. Old hippies that had been talking pure socialism and criticizing anything capitalistic would soon see the similarities of leftist dictators and right wing dictators. Then there would start the same kind of surveillance and informants like in Cuba, the government would not be able to carry out all its promises because the money would be gone.
Either way, extremists don't respect people's freedoms. We need to stop thinking that everything is a black and white issue and keep a balance if we want to be "free."

Tyranny and the Military Commissions Act
by JACOB G. HORNBERGER
(June 18, 2007) In Star Wars, Episode 3, in response to the Senate’s grant of sweeping powers to Chancellor Palpatine, Padme declares, “So this is how liberty dies: with thunderous applause.”
The same may be said about the Military Commissions Act (MCA) that was recently enacted by Congress — that this is how freedom ends, with or without the applause.
Despite the fact that the MCA has received just a modicum of publicity from the mainstream press, it is undoubtedly the most ominous and dangerous piece of legislation in our lifetime.
By suspending habeas corpus for foreigners, by adopting the executive branch’s “enemy combatant” designation for both Americans and foreigners, and by establishing military tribunals for foreigners, the law not only entails a fundamental reordering of our criminal justice system but also effectively places the U.S. military in control of the American people.
HABEUS CORPUS
Of all the rights and freedoms mentioned and enumerated in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, the writ of habeas corpus is arguably the most important safeguard of individual freedom.

Bush Plans Dictatorship
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=103x282795
It isn't really surprising. Bush decides who is an enemy combatant, a person without legal rights, and who should be spied upon.
If ever there was a moment for conspiracy theories, this is it. Will there be a phony terror attack, or a declaration of war against Iran? We don't know what the trigger will be but it is time to be afraid.
Actually it is time for impeachment. Bush's unpopularity makes him particularly dangerous. So does the acquiescence of the media and the silence of the Democrats. State legislatures have the right to begin the impeachment process but they have been smacked down by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.

What makes you think it isn't. Both Political party's are run by Corporate Facists who sell thier collective soul to the highest bidder. The "differences" are cosmetic meant to present an illusion that we are being given a choice.

What do you think we're under right now???
Yes, we still have our civil liberties, but look at the war. More than 2/3 of Americans want out, and we're still over there. Do you call that a Democracy???
