ANYTHING by Doc Watson... The premier flat picker in the world... some really great songs from the past.
Doc takes fiddle tunes and plays them on the guitar, flat picking style... He is also one of the better finger pickers.

Anything by John Denver- eg. Country Roads, Annie's Song.
Not especially Country, but how about American Pie by Don MacLean. Early Rock'n'Roll is always good. hope this helps.

Doc Watson is really good. All bluegrass is great, really- not many people appreciate it as it deserves. Look up Jeff White, too. And Mr. Sam McGee was a genius with a guitar.

You gotta check out DRAG THE RIVER. punk rock dudes doing good old style country. lotsa songs about drinking and more drinking.

a really good band is little big town. they have a great harmony and acustic sound. i like them very much.
