After doctors diagnosed I have had a missed miscarriage, I went for the natural expelsion of the tissues, and hence took the Misoprostol tablets option. I had heavy bleeding for the first few days, tissues passed out. But, I am having medium (not heavy) bleeding for 25 days (and still counting). Doctor says if the bleeding is heavy, and I have severe pain, then it needs to be attended immediately. I dont have heavy bleeding or pain. But, is this on-going bleeding ok? How long can it go? Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I was told that the baby stopped growing at 6 weeks. But, I found out about this during my 10th week checkup. 10 days later, I took the tablets.

Also, as per the blood test taken last week, my hormones level has come down to 40. I am going for another blood test in 3 weeks.

First of all, I am so sorry. ((((hugs)))) I had a missed miscarriage several years ago.
I didn't take misoprostol (opted for the d&c) so I can't give you a definitive answer, but I do know that it is normal to bleed for quite a while after a miscarriage. I think it is normal for up to six weeks. But the bleeding should taper off slowly. If it is staying the same, it might be worth a call to your doctor.
Here is one study that might help (it says that in a trial, all women bled over 14 days):
http://humrep.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/19/7/1655
And another (that shows that bleeding with misoprostol is more than with d&c, which leads me to think that your bleeding may be more normal):

Sorry I can't be of much more help. I hope that you feel better soon. Take care of yourself.

I'm sorry for your loss. This medication causes strong contractions to expel the tissues. It's a very dangerous way to do things because you can can a uterine rupture, infections, and you might still need a d & c afterwards anyway. What you do have to remember is that throughout the whole process, your body is still giving birth and so you are going to have all the typical post partum reactions. Including but not limited to emotional highs and lows, extended periods of bleeding, having to learn your cycle all over again, and of course your doctor should have told you at least no sex for the first few weeks afterwards. Seeing how you are concerned about the bleeding, you should probably ask your doctor to perform an ultrasound and to check your hormone levels through a series of blood tests to see if your body did expel the tissues properly. This way, you can find out if you'll need a d & c. I hope you won't considering it is a painful process.

I had a miscarriage in November, and also took the pills to help clear everything out. I bled for about a month after the miscarriage... by the end it was very light, but I still had to wear a pad, instead of a panty liner as it would sometimes come out in spurts.
I do believe this is normal, but if you are feeling uncomfortable, definately talk to your doctor. This is probably areally tough time for you already, so any reassurance that you need to make yourself feel better is the best option.
Good luck!

If he didn't give you mifopristone as well you should have gotten a pill to stop the bleeding. How long ago did the tissue pass? You should not bleed more than a few days after and past the first day it should be similar to spotting rather than bleeding.Call your Dr's office and get in there to be sure you're not hemorrhaging.

I had a miscarriage and I did not bleed very long after the tissue passed. Everyone is different though. I guess it would depend on how far along you were. I would call your doctor to be on the safe side. I am very sorry for your loss.

I'm SO sorry about the loss of your baby. That happened to me once, and I still cry many years later.
Twenty-five days seems excessive to me. Have you tried uterine massage? After my babies, in order to stop my bleeding, the nurses would press down hard on my tummy between my pelvis and my belly button. I never bled more than a couple of days.
I wonder if a D&C is indicated. I wouldn't let this go on much longer. You could become anemic.

Most birth control pills nowadays have such low doses of hormones that doctors do not think it will harm the baby. However, if you suspect you're pregnant, you should stop taking it immediately. Obviously the doctors don't have a ton of tests/case studies of women who took birth control while pregnant to go by. And I would always err on the side of caution.

I would call the doctor again and explain the situation to them. You may need a regular DNC to be done. That is where they doctor must remove anything remaining her/himself. It is never a bad thing to be safe and not sorry. Remember, the doctor works for you. They are there to take care of your needs. Get it checked. The worst thing the could tell you is your fine. Good Luck.

I'm really sorry about the miscarriage. That is made worse by what you are having to go through now. I'm not a doctor and can't really give you advice. But if you are concerned then you need to go to your doctor and make him listen and address your concern.
