My son is driving me crazy to find a release date, but I haven't found a reliable source that even says that there's one coming out. He wants it for a PS2. Thanks!!

According to WIkipedia, nothing official's been announced, but Square Enix are unveiling a new Kingdom Hearts project at TGS '07 (which is usually early September).
I'm not sure if it'll come out on PS2 though, as it probably won't see a release for at least another year (NB: my speculation only), so will probably be exclusive to the next-gen consoles.

It's not going to be called Kingdom Hearts 3. There's all kinds of debates on whether it's going to be Playstation exclusive, but it doesn't really make sense to make it for the PS2 with a release date like it's likely to have. More than likely Final Fantasy XIII will come out before whatever KH3 is going to be called does and if they released it on PS2 at that point, it would look like cave drawings as that developers will have had some time to tap into the PS3's capabilities by then. You can go on YouTube and look at a lot of the clips from KH2 final mix. They're pretty much the awesome even though they're all in Japanese (as that Final Mix is only in Japanese currently). But there's a clip with a bald guy and three armored knights (supposedly named Terra, Ven, and Aqua). To be honest, I don't know if it's QUITE as amazing as the KH2 teaser stuff was, but it IS still pretty hot.

There will be a Kingdoms Heart 3 for sure. There are two trailers already on the net. It won't be called KH3 though because it is not a sequel to the games since the characters are different.
At the moment, no official word about the release date and the director stated KH3 is not on his to work list since he has another projects. With that said, release on the ps2 is very very slim and release on the ps3 seems a good choice.

There will be a Kingdom Hearts 3 comming out some time during the middle of 2008 but I doubt that it will be released for the PS2.

There isn't a release date because Kingdom Hearts 3 hasn't been announced yet.
And when it does get announced it certainly won't be for PS2.
It's kinda funny why people ask if games like this will come out for PS2 when the system is on its last legs and the new (ps3/xb360/wii) systems are out.
it'll probably be for Wii if Square-Enix has any sense in their brains

There's been rumors of Kingdom Hearts 3 in the works, and with the secret video at the end of KH2, it's been driving lots of people nuts thinking there will be a sequal. All he can do is just be paitent and see if they end up realeasing one.
