The ship you are on has sunk. You have it in your power to save either your pet or a stranger, both within reach. Whom would you save?

I would save the stranger for a human life is much more important. Maybe the life you save would become a very important person to the world. I love my pets but to leave a fellow human being die would be a tragedy.

No doubt my pet.
Because:
1. I do not make any discriminations between animals and human beings. To me the value of life is equal to both.
2. Therefore, my pet would be prefferable for the sentimental link between us.
3. A human being has the chance to find a life jacket or a piece of wood and stay afloat. An animal not.

I would save my dog. I would try saving the stranger by telling him/her to swim, like I would probably be doing. My dog is small enough though that I could stick him on my head and pull the person. I would try to save them both but I love my dog too much to let him die in front of me.
I could see how people don't agree. Before I got my dog, I would have said save the stranger but my dog is my best friend. The stranger could be a bad person. Plus he/she should know how to swim if they were aboard a ship, that would be safe to learn before you went out in the water.

gosh thats hard, i love my cat and would save stranger if need be? thats diffucult. i suppose if your in a stressfull situation you look for something comforting and familar so probably my pet and then feel guilty as sin when i get to dry land and find out a stranger could of been saved! still pondering, fingers crossed i never get in that situation lol! :-)

I would totally save the stranger, i mean camon, it's a human vs. a pet.... unless you're very optimistic towards pets... but you would have to be a total animal lover for that to happen....

I would save the stranger. And wouldn't you think the stranger would also have the same choice? So I would ask the stranger to save my pet.

Its a hard question to answer but i think i would save a strangers life, as much as i would miss my pet i think a human life is more important.............

I would save the stranger.
I feel that the human's life is of a higher form...made in his image.....and should be save.
Most pets including cats dogs,snakes, lizards innately know how to swim

Definitely, human life is more valuable than an animal's life. I wouldn't hesitate, as much as I love my pet, I would save human first.
