My 12 year old daughter is so sweet, sensitive, caring, compassionate...all of those words. She cares about others- both people and animals- more than herself. She got mad at me one night when I told a beggar in the grocery store parking lot I did not have any cash (she knew I did). I had to explain to her that this person was NOT really starving, but is a drug addict and prostitute. In lieu of gifts for her birthday last January, she asked for donations to Water Missions, which is a local non-profit charity that operates around the world. She raised $169 that was used to send water filter systems to Haiti in the aftermath of the earthquake. My 10 year old son has always been able to make me laugh like noone else can. The cuteness is wearing off and it is now becoming sarcasm, but even that makes me laugh because he has not quite got the hang of sarcasm yet and some of his attempts are hilarious. He also tells it like he sees it, which is something we are working on (because it is not always appropriate to say it, even if it is true). I hate to say this now, but my 3 year old daughter's stubborness is my favorite thing about her. I am sure that will not always be the case. I know it is wrong, too, to be somewhat amused by tantrums but she rarely has screaming fits- she has silent tantrums which makes them even more funny. She laid down on the ground at the ballfield one day, and we were ignoring it as we always do. Another parent asked what was going on, and I told her it was a tantrum- they were all wishing their children threw silent tantrums. So, for the time being she will throw these mostly silent tantrums, which are ignored (though we are sometimes hiding our smiles) and after a minute or two, she realizes she is not going to get her way and will go on like nothing ever happened. My youngest is 5 months old, and right now my favorite thing is his giggles, and the fact that just walking into his site makes him smile. He reaches now, too, which is awesome. He is our last biological child, so I am cherishing the nursing experience and love when he stops suckling to smile up at me.

When I was in my early teens we lived 25 miles from the nearest town up on Shasta Lake in the mountains. Going to the lake fishing with my dog and staying 4 or 5 days and nights. Those are my most cherished childhood memories.

I used to play in the fields and down by the creek and climb hay bales. . . I'd be afraid to have kids out alone doing that now.
My favorite pass-time was always reading though. I was very shy and could lose myself in good books. That's something kids can still do.

Play Buffalo Bill.
The problems were that there is no Buffalo's where i live ,did not have a horse and obviously no Winchester.
The Buffalo's were in my pure imagination , my horse was one of the big Sheppard dogs my Dad had and my rifle was a fake one.
I have killed thousands of Buffalo's and my ammunition never seemed to finish.
I used to stop my hunting when the dog was fed up with all these killings.

In high school (back in the dark ages) I was part of a group that sang at nursing homes. We had a blast taking our well loved show on the road....and today's youth wouldn't get it at all. The fun is not always best when centered on self.

Bike riding, roller skating, and swimming! Loved it all!
Wish there was a roller rink nearby. I would take my son away from the damn playstation and show him what real fun is. Can't wait till our pool is ready next week! YAY!!

I used to be a big tomboy and I would play street hockey, street basketball, street soccer, street football, and what used to be my all time favorite... cops and robbers but that was until I was about 9. I guess you could say that I used to be into alot of sports. =)

I lived way out in the country and I was a tomboy. I spent all of my free time playing in the woods, alone. It was great.
