Hi,
We all need a hero from childhood and on. Behaviour is learned from a very early age from our role models i.e. parents and other adults around us. Our teachers may have been people we looked up to; someone who lived a lifestyle we admire. These people may not be ‘heroes’ in the sense of the word of someone who has done something significant but they will have been people who have had some kind of impact on our life.
Even without villains there will be people who rise above the circumstances of life and achieve something really special. There will always be someone to admire. To the ancient Greeks a hero was a mortal who had done something so far beyond the normal scope of human powers/experience that he left an immortal memory behind when he died, thus being worshipped like a God. Hercules, the monster killer for example but not all heroes were good. Oedipus although having committed an unthinkable crime (killed his father) was classed as a hero after his death! A villain more like! So maybe not all heroes are conducive to establishing healthy role models but we will admire those who expand our awareness of what is possible for humans to do.

Yes, heroes exist from everyday situations in which there are no villains involved. Example: a person who rescues another from a house fire started by lightning. No villain but definitely a hero.

Not logical. Fire, is a menace, earthquakes etc... we will always need some to save the less aware, less prepared, less equip, less emotional strong, the sick and this list can be extended but my answer is heros are here to stay just as villains, cowards, manipulating con artist, false friends and true ones. The more things change you realize there just repeats that already happen. Eccl 1:10, 11 This is why history of self is the greatest way to improve the universe by letting the change begin withyou.

If there were no villains (including natural disasters, etc) there would also be no heroes. Not just because there would be no need of them, but because no one would understand what a hero was since nothing would need saving.

Without conflict, there is no story.
In the movies, great villains never get "Best Supporting Actor." Alan Rickman was awesome in "Die Hard', and the guy who played "Buffalo Bill" in "Silence of the Lambs" was better than Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster put together. He also was good in "Master and Commander."
give me a good villain any day...Brian

Sure, just because there's so many situations that involve a hero but don't have the villian offsetting them (at least not an actual character in the role of the "villian").

That's a definite YES for me.
Why? Because we are all our own villain and need help at some time in our lives.
That is if you have lived long enough.

Well what if a kid was trapped in a burning building, they would still need a hero to save them.
