my fave teacher I'll always remember wasn't a "real" teacher at all. He was a student teacher in my high school gym class named Mr. Tatum. Never got his first name, but would love to look for him.

I'm Black, but I grew up in an mostly-White suburb in Ohio. All my schooling, never had a Black teacher. Then when I saw him, it seemed like he was bigger in life. I was one of only 10 black kids in a 1,200-student high school, so seeing a black guy in a type of authority role was huge for me. Part of the reason why I'm a teacher now...

my year 9 and 10 drama teacher, Miss Purdy who became Mrs Roberts!
She was fantastic, she was so fun and really young too, so she really related to me, she was a great teacher and I really came to love and be good at drama because of her. She left to move away to pursue a different carrer and concentrate on her family when she became pregnant, but we stay in touch a bit, and I saw her not so long ago, she's still an awesome person

Mine was my headmaster at primary school. His name was Mr Challoner and he knew every pupil in the school, the names of their brothers and sisters, who their parents were and exactly what stage everyone was at with their school work. Every time we completed an exercise book we had an appointment with him and got juice and chocolate biscuits which was a real luxury, that most of us didn't get at home, in the 50s Northern England. I just loved him to bits.
