Sorry this is a long one. I will probably have to add details a couple times. Okay I quit a job I had without notice in April because my boss had absolutely humiliated me in front of fellow coworkers, and regular customers by accusing me of stealing, I did NOT steal, he had no evidence, it was just because I was the newest employee. I offered to take a polygraph and they promised they would set one up and they never did. I had to empty all my pockets, my purse, coat everything in front of people. I went home and cried for a few hours and decided that I was going to quit because this humilation was on top of a million other problems with this job. But when I quit I had an interview set up already for the next week for a new job, which I did get, but it was at a school so now I am off for the summer and applied for unemployment, but I can't get it because I was told that "humiliation" is not reasonable cause to quit a job. (they had to go back on the prior job because I hadn't worked lo

ng enough). Anyway I am appealing, but I don't really know the laws and I want to be sure to win the appeal because I cannot let my boss have the satisfaction of him winning, he is very cocky and as other coworkers say he is a "womanizer". Anyways if I appeal, they will have a hearing (this is in Pennsylvania) and I can bring witnesses, but they are all co workers and I don't want to bring them for fear the boss will retaliate against them. Anyways, I was looking for a new job because they always had me working hours I wasn't supposed to work, I was told I would get a break, but even though I worked 8 hours I never ever got one. not even 5 minutes. they lied about the training program and kept me as the only "detailer" which is very hard work, the whole job was different then what I was told when I was hired. My babysitter who also happens to be the kids grandma was hospitalized during this time and I have no one else to watch them because my family lives 20 plus miles away

and when I make 5.65 an hour you cant afford to pay someone to watch your kids. all the unemployment office knows so far is that he humiliated me, but with everything else added what do you think my chances are? thanks.

Yes it sort of is, but I am tired of the way he treats everyone. He is not going to continue to get away with mentally abusing people and humiliating people. Including his wife, who when she was pregnant he continually called her fat and wouldn't let her eat even though she was bones and baby. I just want to be satisfied with my humiliation case against him!

I know the differences, my words may not show it, but I do. Well then the law should be changed, because how can they expect someone to return to work after an employer has done such humiliation? I mean it takes A LOT to embarrass me, but he did it.

I don't think you have a case. You left the job without giving proper notice. They have the right to search you if there is a reasonable suspicion that you may be stealing from them. A polygraph test is irrelevant as it is inadmissible in court. I would have quit the job too, but I don't think you have any legal claim to unemployment.

ADDITION****

Even with all the added details, you don't have a case. If they had fired you for stealing when you did not, you would be more likely to win. Sounds to me like this is a personal vendetta for you. Move on and good luck with the new job.

You are confusing two separate issues. First as far as unemployment compensation goes you have no case because you voluntarily resigned your position. Regardless of the reasons why you quit, you still quit. As for the humiliation and harrasment it is not the unemployment offices mandate to correct your employers actions or to compensate you for them. You can however attempt to launch a suit against your employer for harrasment, slander, defamation of character, hostile work enviroment and some others provided your state has these statutes.
