Wow! I loved reading everyone's answers so far ~
I remember, when I was a kid, my parents saying "When *I* was a kid, we never (fill in the blank: sat around wasting the day, watched tv, complained it was too hot, etc.)" Now, I find myself saying similar things to my own kids. At this rate, in a few more generations, kids will just be blobs of nothing! lol
When I was a kid we didn't have a tv, and we lived in the country most of the time. My brother and I were *forced* to use our imaginations! I'd ride our pig like a horse; play in the 'pool' (horse tank full of water) without much supervision; play alone or with my brother; roam all over the property without a care in the world; sometimes I even (*gasp!*) played alone in my bedroom!!!
Thanks for the memories~

Play under the hose. Put soap all over the trampoline, make huge bubbles.
We are in drought - so we can't play under the hose - throw water bombs, fill up buckets and throw them at eachother (throw the water, not buckets heh) Chase each other with the hose.
I'm old now, but you never get too old to frollic in the backyard with the hose! That all has nothing to do with how the safety of the world has changed, i'm only 20 so it's sort of always been the same unsafe place since I was growing up.

1.)Walk to the store (about 2 miles from the house) w/out worrying about getting kidnapped or ran over!
2.)Play hopscotch, rollerskate, ride my bike in the road
3.)When we did get to walk to the store, we'd sit down in the middle of the road and eat a candybar & drink a coke. We live down a deadend road and only family came back there. They all watched out for us kids! But now more families have moved in and ppl fly up and down the road!
4.)Mom & Dad use to take us to local creeks & play all day. They didn't even have to know the owner of the creek, they'd just ask them & they'd let us play. I tried to do that w/ my kids & NOBODY would let them play in their creek! How pathetic! Those were the best memories of my life and we did alot of fun things growing up!
5.)Stand up in the front seat of a car and hop all over the car while my mom was driving. (That didn't go over so well when Dad was driving...lol)
6.)Ride in a back of a truck, hanging over the edge!
Makes me wonder now, how in the hell did we survive our childhood!?!? lol!=) Great question! I loved answering this and reminising about the good old days growing up in the 80's!!!

Play handball by the rules!
They have made up rules that make it WAY too easy and their is no more challenge.
I was stunned when I saw them playing on the playground at my daughters school.
Also, they can't bring a bible to school. With out an uprising.

Two or three of us walked up town on Sat. night and went to the movies. It only cost with a dollar each we could get in and have popcorn & a soda.
Play outside on our bikes from sunup till sundown.
Ride our ponys right in the street.
Go swimming in the river.
Go to a skating rink on Sat. in the summer that had open sides. It was beautiful.
get up early on Sat. and watch Sat mornig cartoons.
Kids today miss out on so much. It makes me sad.

When I was a kid, someone could pretty much be taken home from school by any adult that the kid could identify. Now, they have to have a form in the office that proves the child has permission to go home with said person.

When I was a kid I was always outside doing something, swimming in the creek, rollerskating, bike riding, playing nighttime games like ghost in the graveyard and kick the can and it seems today that all kids are interested in is computers and video games, its really a shame and one of the causes of childhood obesity.
