to celebrate our independence day? Isn't the trade deficit big enough for ya?

has anybody really seen fireworks made anywhere BUT china? my point was, if this is OUR independence day, why would ANY "patriotic" american spend money on fireworks made in THE country that is possibly our biggest threat. can't you do WITHOUT fireworks altogether? what a stupid waste of money. they are dangerous, people just leave them laying around anywhere (no telling what is really IN them) and increase the already ridiculous trade deficit, show me a reason they should be sold here at all.

Great question! I give you a star!
I kinda think that China pays their help like a bowl of rice a day for a 12 hour work day, 7 days a week, no benefits, no holidays, no vacation pay, no retirement, no unemployment insurance, no pesky safety regulations, no unions, no rights. SO, it is cheaper to produce stuff there. The same package of firecrackers we pay a dollar for that is from China, would cost $49.95 if produced in the USA.

I wonder where I can go pay $49.95 for American made firecrackers? Any ideas?

The earliest unequivocal documentation of fireworks dates back to 12th century China,[1] where they were first used to frighten away evil spirits with their loud sound ("bian pao") and also to pray for happiness and prosperity.

Eventually, the art and science of firework making developed into an independent profession of its own. In ancient China, pyrotechnicians (firework-masters) were well-respected for their knowledge and skill to mount dazzling displays of light and sound.
America's earliest settlers brought their enthusiasm for fireworks to the United States. Fireworks and black powder were used to celebrate important events long before the American Revolutionary War. The very first celebration of Independence Day was in 1777, six years before Americans knew whether the new nation would survive the war; fireworks were a part of those festivities. In 1789, George Washington's inauguration was also accompanied by a fireworks display. This early fascination with their noise and color continues today.

Fireworks are apart of history
People get killed in car acidents all the time should we ban driving or just driving chinese cars.
Get over it if you dont like fireworks than dont go see them.

Why do all of us buy Chinese made things? Because its cheaper even if lousy quality. Hope the fireworks are upto standard. I have bought all kinds of minor household things made in china and they are all such rubbish.

The chinese invented gun powder. Maybe it's better than the American stuff. Maybe the Chinese want to celebrate with us and be a part of us.

Question is why would somebody buy something that you are not even allowed to set off in your state. I'm from Ohio if you buy them you must sign a paper saying you'll only set them off in another state.
