I think it absolutely varies with the individual.
My late husband feared death, food poisoning or any sort of stomach-related illness and responsibility.
A former male room-mate feared traumatic childhood memories.
My father feared guilt, confrontation and facing issues head on.
I suspect that my current boyfriend fears lonliness above all else.
I have worked for male bosses that feared such things as making decisions, quiet (this one demanded I keep a radio on at all times), invasion of privacy, appearing less than perfect to others, making phone calls, etc.
We women are each separate individuals with our individual fears and so are guys.
