I know Syd Barrett wrote a book called "The History of Art," but does anybody know if it was ever published and where I can purchase it?

First time I heard that. Syd Barrett lived in Cambridge with his mother once he and Pink Floyd detached. For Barrett to write on a heavy topic as The History of Art he would have had to convince a publisher to publish it. Since he wasn't in his right frame of mind during his years after Floyd, I doubt if any serious publisher would have taken that book on. It I'm sure England has a national library like we have the library of Congress. I would start with the English national library headquarters, most likely in London.

try
www.bookfinder.com

It's the best to find competitive pricing on books.

try calling your local library and ask if they have access to WorldCat. It's the WORLD catalog of books - so if it was ever published, some library - somewhere will have it. Ask about your library borrowing it for you (called Interlibrary Loan - it's a miraculous service! just ask - libraries do this every day for people).

A search on abebooks.com reveals nothing by that name.
