Freedom is not totally free but in the United States we are free'r than most. I make choices and what I decide determines the result. I like being in control of my life. Even in my worst times I still thank God I am born American and Brave Armed men and women have scrificed their lives so our nation can be free. Agree or not, but without those un-selfish people who have given their lives we could very well not even be allowed to worship, assemble, pursue happiness and many other freedoms we enjoy God Bless the USA and our Flighting Men and Women Past and present.

Well, say you were working at a desk at a job you really hated when you checked the newspaper and saw that your six Lotto numbers have hit and you just won $40 million dollars. Feel free to trash your desk and the Xerox machine on the way out.

To be free, hmmm....that's a hard one. But I guess that it means different things to different people. Some people, the more privileged ones, it means to be able to do whatever they want, but for others(the underprivileged ones) it just means being happy, I suppose. I can't say for sure, cuz I am a person of the former group. But that is my view. Boring, I know, but that is how it is.

To be free, means that you can do anything you want. Among the choices you are free to chose, you can assume engagements, agreements, commitments and obligations, which chosen freely, restricts your freedom for the future.

I guess it has to do with what you mean by free and what type of freedom and in what area of your life you talking about.
If you would be so kind as to clarify what you mean by "free", I could give a more detailed answer.

Means you don't have to follow a dictatorship. You are free to do anything you like with no laws restricting you otherwise.

Not to be controlled by anything that you do not choose.
Freedom of mind from biased media or teachings.
Freedom from conforming to anything that you do not wish to conform to.
The closest chance to freedom I think Americans can have today is by trying to get Ron Paul in the presidency. http://www.ronpaul2008.com
