I read online where they can be wrong, so if you are in doubt, go have another ultra sound with another dr. or let the hospital do a vaginal one! It shows more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best wishes!

It sounds pretty grim, but what are your HCG levels doing? Are they dropping? If you want, there's no reason you have to rush into the D&C. You can see another dr, you can have another ultrasound, you just do whatever it takes to make you feel like this is what you should do. If you have ANY doubts, I always say go with your gut. If you don't think your baby's heartbeat has really stopped then you need to have as many ultrasounds and do as much lab work as it takes til you get a result you believe in. Drs CAN be wrong...but it doesn't sound good. XX

I did...I was supposed to be 9 weeks along and had a vaginal u/s and there was only a sac and no heartbeat. It is what is called a blighted ovum. I was given two choices...a d&c or wait for it to pass on its own. I opted for the d&c to get it over with. MY Dr said the d&c was s good choice as it would clean out my uterus.

I'm so sorry that you're going through this. We did too. I even had the doctor repeat the ultrasound right before the d&c so that I would not feel even more conflicted.
I hope that you have lots of people to surround yourself with cause, as you know, this is the hardest.
My thoughts are with you. When you are ready, some of the grief and loss sections of major websites helped me, but I couldn't go to them for several months.
Be well and take care.

I'm sorry :( Usually they have a heart beat by 5 weeks. There could be a chance that they couldn't get a good picture but it's a slight chance. Good Luck to you and hope things work out!

I know that I am going to sound cheesy answering this but I think that there still is a chance if you have hope. I'm only 13 and have obviously had no baby but just keep believing that it will be OK and it will. Good Luck!

This must be very difficult for you. I had an u/s at 7 weeks and there was a heartbeat present.

I am so sorry, but if I were you I would ask for another U/S before doing a D&C
I know that sound foolish but I beleive in miracle
then if not heart beat I will go ahead and have one done

PLEASE READ THIS.... GO GET ANOTHER ULTRASOUND IN A WEEK OR SO ...Week 10
The fetus now resembles a shrimp with its large head and disproportionately small body. The genitals have begun to form. The heartbeat may be heard after either the 10th or 11th week by a special stethoscope..... I GOT THIS INFO FROM ROBYNSNEST.COM YOU MAY BE OK....

Are they sure? Don't you think they should wait a little bit and check again. It might be to soon to see a heartbeat. I am very sorry. I wish you the best.

I am truely sorry..
Im not sure. but the doctors i assume would know what they are talking about. try to see if they can give you a vaginal ultrasound to tell if the baby is moving and that way they can see the heart beating...
tell them you want to make sure.... im sure they will let you do that so you will know.
again, im really sorry. Everything will get better i promise.
