You do not say goodbye to your heart as it cannot be done. Everything will turn out for the better, I promise you.
Special people like you deserve all the love in the world and it will come to you.
In the meantime, write some poetry.

I hope that you're not asking this for yourself, Sarge. If so, I'm really sorry that you're going through something so painful.
My response has to be that you don't say goodbye to any of those things. You work through the stages of the pain, little by little you improve, you slip back, then you work your way forward a little more. You accept the pain but you don't wallow in it. (If you must wallow, then set a strict time limit for pulling yourself out of it.) Eventually, a scar will form over the pain; it's not gone, but changed. Don't hold on to anger or bitterness, they will only eat you alive from the inside out. Take whatever lessons you can from the experience and life will be good again. No quick fix, but the light is there at the end of the tunnel, and it's not an on-coming train.

You know, God doesn't answer prayers for a reason. What you think you love and care about is not what God has in store for you. You never say good-bye to your heart, you only open it up so that when God DOES guide you into the direction of your fate, you won't be just a closed book. The only ones who ever truly remain unhappy, are the ones who do say good-bye to their heart. Keep your eyes and heart open...everything you truly love and care about could be right in front of you. Good-luck my friend....happiness in just around the corner!

I am so sorry, you must be having a very hard time of it. I said goodbye to my heart over 40 years ago. Each day gets a little better.
Let me give you a little tip that I took from Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind. She said, "I can't think about it today. I will think about it tomorrow when I can stand it."

This is such a question...... I should do this tomorrow when I have rested. But I feel compelled to write, just a wee bit.
You are a very dear man. We all love you. So does God, in a way we cannot hope to fathom.
It is good to love. It is important to love. It doesn't always turn out the way we envisioned.
It's still worth it.
You've got LOTS of friends, Sarge.

Do like I did. Keep her on the phone, until you can come to some sort of agreement about your differences. I never liked speaking through e-amils. Hearing voices, will always mean more. Good Luck, dear Friend

never say goodbye to your heart.
we've all had our hearts bruised...shattered and broken.
but hearts are amazing..in their ability to heal..and be filled with love once more.
have faith.
find beauty.
reach out.
find that other person in the world..who feels exactly as you do....
and something magical will happen..
you will have found the heart you thought you lost .

I AM GOING THROUGH THAT NOW AND WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE LOVE AND THE HEARTACHE OF THE YEARS. JUST REMEMBER THE GOOD TIMES AND SMILE SOMETIMES IT HELPS AND NO ONE CAN SEE HOW SAD YOU REALLY ARE INSIDE!!! GOODLUCK~

So sorry about your love. It is so hard to have to go on when one is hurting. Just hold your head high, walk proud and put your hand in Jesus' hand. HE loves YOU!!!!
