It would start to squeak, shake a bit and then suddenly stop rotating.
For our society there would be no problem, except that we would have to pay more per mile for gas. You can easily find other ways to make everything now made from oil from other resources, although it will be more expensive. For most uses that is no problem.
There will be some changes: Oil magnates will disappear, others will take their place, OPEC countries will lose some of their income, other countries will benefit. Having scientists will be more important then having oil wells, and international and environmental politics will change. But apart from that, world will be the same.

Well several things, as I see it.
1. Humans would quickly find alternate fuels.
2. Oil company executives, if forced to repay their ill gotten riches, would begin starving to death en mass and litter the halls of country clubs around the globe thereby rendering such locations even less desirable.
3. Politicians would realize that the hand-outs that enrich them would be drying up.
4. The streets of America’s cities would be clogged with homeless politicians dressed in tattered Armani suits confused by yet another form of fleecing the public and wondering why they have less character than normal homeless people many of which were made homeless by the actions and gross incompetence of the new arrives .
5. The planet might then survive even the destructive earth virus know fondly as….us humans.

The oil wouldn't suddenly just disappear, it would slowly be used up. And, based on what we've seen so far with oil and gas prices, prices for oil would reach an all time high. Ya know...we might just run out of money before we ran out of oil lol. But, on the bright side we would be forced to find different energy sources. Our economy would most likely become much "greener" and earth friendly. Our ecosytems would thrive, global warming wouldn't be an issue, it might be an over all good thing.

What do you mean 'if' ???
Oil is a finite resource .. one day it will all be gone ..
The brain dead m*rons who predict the end of civilisation when Oil runs out consistently ignore the operation of the Capitalist system economy (and, in fact, are usually incapable of any constructive economic thinking)
As any first year Economics student knows, as a resource becomes scarcer, the price rises .. this leads to alternatives becoming economically viable ....
It is true that some current users may have no feasible alternative to Oil - these industries will disappear and others providing a substitute end product will take their place.

Nothing would really happen as humanity is currently changing to different energy sources. We are not as dependent on fossil fuels like we were 100 years ago. Before around 95% of the worlds energy source was fossil fuels(oil, coal, gas, etc.) and machine were also very inefficient. Now efficiency has greatly improved and the world is changing to renewable energy sources such as wind power, solar power, hydroelectric power, tidal power, nuclear fission (or fusion)etc. So if the world ran out of oil it would just mean we would have to replace the engines of our machines and vehicles to support these different energy sorces.

Pessimistic scenario : more cars would be running on ethanol and bio-diesel = more bio-mass plantations in the developing world = disappearing rain forests = runaway global warming = melting ice caps = flooding of all coastal plains all over the world and shutdown of the Gulf Stream = new Ice Age in Northern and Western Europe = economic depression turns into an economic collapse. Game over.

*shudder*
we will (i say that cause it will happen eventually) all be screwed..
.. we use oil for sooooo much. not just gas for our cars. if we ran out of oil, half the worlds chemical and polymer production would come to a grinding halt.
then there's the fact that everything currently runs on gasoline.

Not good. Most people don't realize that only about 50% of the crude oil extracted is refined into gasoline. The other half is for a variety of things like plastics. It would not be good at all. But, we won't run out in our lifetime so I wouldn't worry about it.

We would make it out of other products, such as coal or natural gas. But the bitumen sands in the US, and the tar sands in Canada, will produce oil for a very long time.

nothing we dont need it anymore, look up on google he invented an energy machine that can run the entire world without oil. it would also lower pollution by tons since oil is yucky.
so if you go to his site u'll see he has a pickup truck runnin on his machine and we dont need oil for anything.
