I'm sick of everying b*tching about "these people did something to my people" and "these kind of people owe something to my people". Why can't we take responsibility for our own actions and problems instead of blaming others? Lets become pro-active; better our lives and stop whining and pointing fingers.

You are right that we can't move on until both parties accept blame... if there's any at all.. We can't expect people to accept responsibility to something that happened generations ago, i.e slavery.

I am not talking about forgetting our very flawed human history... If anything we should think about our past and learn from it.

Many eople are not taking responsibility for their own lives and spend their whole time complaining about their misfortunes and blaming others for it. This is America people... You make your life what it is.. Nobody else does.

Great question!

Amen! I too am sick, sick, sick of seeing this country fighting that country, and that country fighting this country, and who's people, religion, politics, etc. are superior to someone else's. I think the world should just shut up and go home!

You're only half right. Nothing can be solved until both parties both accept partial blame for the incidents. Only then can one forgive the other person, and then forgive themselves, because no one's perfect, we all make mistakes, and only a good person feels bad when they hurt someone. And good people apologize and try to make amends when they realize or are confronted by someone they've hurt. They don't just ignore it and try to forget it nor tell the other person to get over it.

It's a little too late for that. In case you haven't noticed humanity as a whole will never stop this sort of thing. The Chinese will always have a problem with the Japanese because of what they did to them during World War 2; especially the rape of Nanking, and every year they will let them and us know about it. The Jews will never forget the horror delivered upon them by the Germans during WW2, and every year they let us all know about that. The Palestine's will never forget what the Jews have done to them, and are doing now, and they will let us know about it every day. The Blacks in America will never forget the 200+ years of slavery, torture, rape, medical experiments, breeding programs, terrorism, segregationists, belittlement, and harassment, and police brutality that the Whites in America has visited upon them, and we will never forget, and will always remind you of it every day. The Japanese will never forget being firebombed, and then nuked during WW2, and every year they let everyone know all about it. America will never forget Pearl Harbor and how those Japanese performed a sneak attack on them on that dastardly day, and America will always let everyone know about it every year, and on, and on it goes forever...

Humans are not a forgiving lot and it is difficult for us to forget, and forgive, and when it all comes down to it we all have inherited our sins from our forefathers and ancestors. I guess what you want us to do is accept White rule and be happy about it. That will never happen.

there's a big difference between laying out the facts and blaming others...i don't blame NOBODY or no race for my issues, i just wish people would stop stereotyping, we can't be totally blinded and just forget what happened back in the day even though those people probably aren't even alive, i'm not gonna forget the history of my ancestors and i hope that aint what you're asking, but i sure as hell won't blame nobody for my problems...

If I happen to talk about my ancestors, that is not me blaming or whining... if it makes you or anyone else feel bad, or angry because it is brought up then that is an issue that you have ... not me, and why is it that people think that when someone bring up slavery or the past that they are blaming someone for their problems that is absurd

Why forgive and forget? I mean why does anybody not question why we want "peace and harmony." If we had that this world would be unlivable. War and conflict are a natural mechanism for population control. Why don't lions learn to eat grass and stop killing everything? Because that ain't how lions roll. So amigo, embrace conflict and let's get it on.

I agree...though I will admit I'm an idealist. The reality is that we can make it better..but not wipe out the blame game completley. We act like 2 year olds..."little johnny, did you spill the pancake mix on the floor?" "no, mommy...Buster was a bad dog...he did it."

Oh, come on - it's EASIER to blame others rather than take responsibility. IT'S THE AMERICAN WAY...
