I don't think I am. I spend a lot of time with friends and I'm generally loud and obnoxious, but at home I tend to stay shut up in my room. I have a reason for it; I'm writing.

Writing is my passion, and it is what I love to do best. Writing however requires peace and quiet and as I have three dogs, two younger siblings, and both of my parents living with me, outside of my room can be very loud and I can't concentrate.

My parents think that it's "unhealthy" or something.

I see nothing wrong with your behavior at all. I wouldn't know how'd you'd be able to get much writing done either in your home. Sounds like it can be very "lively"!

No you're not abnormally antisocial at all, everyone needs time to themselves as well as time with friends. Maybe because when you're at home you're quiet and want your own space your parents don't see the more sociable side of you that your friends do, Spend some time socialising with your family (other than when they ask you to) and they might worry less and leave you to enjoy your quiet time. Perhaps share some of your writing with them so they can see that you are happy and not just sitting in your room feeling sad and lonely!

Good luck with the writing.

you'd have to see this from the point of view of your parents. You're out with your friends and then you come home and clam up.

They probably think you're doing drugs.

But seriously just tell them what you told us. Maybe spend some time with them and show them some of the things you've wrote. And if they don't take an interest then say, this is why I stay in my room all of the time.

But just try to give them an update as to what you're thinking. They're just worried about you. Some kids would kill to have parents like that.

The part that might be worrying your folks is that you don't know how to act in public or with friends. If you yourself say you're loud and obnoxious, obviously you should work on that, especially the obnoxious part. That's all part of knowing how to be sociable. Hope this helps!!!

Yeah, you kind of sound like Hemingway, Proust, and Samuel Johnson. Something wrong there (sarcasm, if you don't get it). Nobody really understands an artist. Good luck with your writing!

You sound like me!

No, its not antisocial, if you spend time with your friends. However, you may want to schedule some "family time".
