I read an article which had some figures below

The AAFP recently surveyed 2,282 men and women across the country about their health behaviors.
Among the findings:
-- 55% of all men surveyed have not seen their primary care physician for a physical exam within the past year.
-- 42% men have been diagnosed with at least one of the following chronic conditions: high blood pressure, arthritis, cancer or diabetes.
-- Almost one in five men (18%) 55 years and older have never received the recommended screening for colon cancer.
-- More than one out of four men (29%) say they wait "as long as possible" before seeking help when they feel sick or are in pain or are concerned about their health.
-- Despite this, 79% men describe themselves as in "Excellent," "Very Good," or "Good" health.

Question: Which group do you fall in?
I am in group 1 but feel i am in good health.

yes, I agree.....but it takes a good woman to drag a man to the doctor.....its a well known fact that married men live longer, because the woman will take care and see to it that men go to see medical help/care!!!

who is with me?????

I got a doctor and specialist for every body-part....here is what I do.....from January to December....
*have eyes and hearing checked*
*see a cardiologist get meds and ekg..bloodtest....etc.*
* have my feet checked*
* bone test*
*family doctor-just for the hell of it!*
* have my cholesterol check every 2 month*
* flu-shot*
* colon cancer test* (blood occult only)
* back to the cardiologist*

then I start all over again....and try to learn how to type all those medical words!!!! lol

"Doctors? We don't need no stinkin' doctors!"

I get a physical every 2 years or so. Additional tests, such as colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, cardiac stress, if the doc says so.

Life is good.

As to your survey results:

1 and 2: so what?

3: everyone over 55 should have colon screening

4: "as long as possible" is the right answer. In my view, the other 71% got it wrong!

5: Yes, that's correct. So what?

The only "doctor" I see regularly is the dentist. Otherwise, I only go if I have a problem. The last time I went was in the spring of '04 - I had a sore throat so I saw an ear/nose/throat doc. One week and three prescriptions later, I was fine.

I have gotten a Physical every year for 28 years. As for Cancer awareness, Stress is the main culprit and I have none.

Sadly in group 1. We seem to think we are in the pink of health till there is a major breakdown and then it is all about firefighting.

lol Marcus, you are either an idiot or a liar, EVERYONE has stress to one degree or another. Breathing is a stress on the lungs, beating is a stress on the heart. Without some stress, you would be dead.
