Totally normal.
Reaons:
1) They will give you an ultrasound to verify that you do not have etopic or molar pregancy as well as to accurately detemine your due date. They don't do this until you are at LEAST 7 weeks along.
2) The chances of miscarriage, sadly, are very high right now. The closer you are to the 12 week mark, the more chances you'll have that you'll have a normal pregnancy.
As for life--just be comfortable! Don't do anything silly like go horseback riding, jump on a rollarcoaster, or party hardy, but just try to stay with a schedule.

Hi! We are on the same schedule! I was supposed to start on 6/20 but didn't and am 4 weeks and 5 days pregnant with number 2. I do think it is completely normal!! I go in on the 17 to see a nurse practitioner and THEN they schedule my 1st appointment with my OB/GYN after that so I probably won't see him until the end of this month or early next.
I remember it being the same way with my first pregnancy. That time, I was a nervous wreck and anxiously waiting to be seen and told that everything was okay. I think all you can really do it talk to others who have been there and do a lot of research. Start taking vitamins if you don't already. Good luck and congratulations!!

Most obs don't see pregnant patients until the 12th week because of miscarriage etc. While this can be extemely unnerving, it is normal. I would go about life the same with the exception of drinking, smoking and I would begin to cut down your caffeine consumption if that is an issue. Get plenty of rest, drink lots of fluids and start taking a prenatal vitamin. You can buy them over the counter at Wal-Mart. Start weeding out any junk food that you may consume a lot of and replace it with healthier choices. Eat smaller meals more frequently and a few snacks as this will help fend off the effects of morning sickness. If you can keep your stomach from being empty you will have an easier time not feeling sick all day. Good luck and Congratulations!!!

No that is definately not normal!!! I was pregnant (and miscarried recently at 6 weeks) and got in to see an OBGYN like 2 days after taking an EPT test. If I were you I would get on the internet or open a phone book and research local OBGYN's in your area. I do not recommend waiting that long to see a physician by no means. In the mean time make sure to eat and take vitamins. Once you do see your doctor they will give you prenatal vitamins to take daily which are important. The last piece of advice I can give you is relax, take a deep breath, and enjoy yourself. What you are about to go through is a life changing experience. It was the only time in my life where I felt absolutely no control over my body. And sadly I miscarried at 6 weeks but I do know this I would do it all over again and my husband & I plan to in the near future. Best Wishes & Congratulations!!!

That`s about the normal time. You`ll get a ultrasound (or an appointment for one) to see how far along you are. You go about your day as normal except don`t drink alcohol or smoke or take any drugs.. Do not take over the counter medicines either unless you ask your doctor. Eat well and get plenty of rest. Good Luck and congrats!!

Sally, make sure you are getting B vitamins, you can get an over the counter prenatal which will help alot, no drinking, or smoking and lots of water, you can exercise but not too heavy. I hope this is a happy thing for you..if you start drinking raspberry leaf tea it will help you to have a good birthing and help the baby and you to absorb the minerals you both need. If you go to Penny C Royal Herbally Yours, you can get all natural child care and birthing info which is great. You will feel very tired which is normal, rest as much as you can. you can also go to a obygyn and they can probably see you sooner...hope it helps

Sally
In most cases, you can lead a normal life for the full term of pregnancy.
Just remember moderation in all things,
It is a good idea if you drink, to stop as it can have an adverse affect on the baby
Eat good healthy meals, and get proper rest, and in January of next year you should have a happy healthy baby.
And oh yes, see your doctor/midwife on regular occasions, and discuss any concerns you have with them.
Good luck to you and your baby.

Yea, totally normal and the worst part about it is that the days will go by so slow until that doctors appointment because you are so anxious! They bring you in around that time because they can usually give you your first ultrasound and so forth. Once you get past that appointment you will feel like you are going to doctors appt's all the time. I am currently going every 2 weeks now!
Good luck and Congrats!

No dont worry its not to late I was 20 weeks when I went to my first appointment because I didnt even know I was and it toke 2 weeks to get the appointment. I dont understand why you have to see a midwife first though I just went straight to the doc.

that's weird that you have to see a midwife, i guess it depends on where you live or if your planning on going the natural route or you just prefer having a midwife. But when i was pregnant i did make the appointment with my obg and of course did the urine test, and it came back positive, and started taking my prenatal pills.. Is there another hospital you can go to? i can't believe that they told you to wait until August, weird!!!
