if no, please tell me, why do some people say "oh, what is Armenia???", is it because they are not educated properly, or is it because Armenia is so small?
I'll tell you a very funny story.
I had a History lesson the other day, (imagine, my history teacher, he should know where is armenia, shouldn't he?)
Anyway, it was the first lesson I had in that school, and he asked me where i was from, and i said Armenia. then he said "Armenia...hmm..it defenetely wasn't in the Soviet Union, was it?" I said "yes, it was!" and he said "oh, sorry. So where is armenia?" and then he got a very old map and started showing different areas VERY far from Armenia. And then I got really annoyed and told him where it was...i guess it was really embarassing for him....at least now he knows what is Armenia:))
Sorry if I bored you with my looooooooong story..

Not boring at all dear.. and you have every right to feel annoyed. Your history teacher should go back to school, or dig out some old encyclopedias and refresh his memory (history).
I for one know of Armenia, and remember a terrible earthquake there several years ago. There have also been a number of famous Americans of Armenian descent.. Mike Connors ( I forget his real name) is one. He starred in a TV series back in the 60's called Mannix. Armand Hammer ( if I remember correctly) is another.. he is the founder of the company we now know as "Arm & Hammer".
Maybe you can do a report for extra credit that would put your history teacher in his place.. that should make you feel alot better.
I'd be interested in knowing how you emigrated to the US.. drop me a line or two when you get a chance.

Thats fine. I am not bothered with your interesting story. I am very interested in different cultures. So, I have heard of Armenia. But I don't know a lot about it. I have just heard about it due to my interest. The same things happens to me. Some people don't know much about my country, Nepal. It is perhaps because it is quite small, it hasn't done that much to be highlighted in media and a lot of others political, promotional and advertisement stuffs.

Yes I do know of this country and if my memory serves me correctly it
is on the Northern border of Turkey between Russia and Turkey. They do
have quite a bloody history and I think some people from Turkey
committed a terrible massacre of the Armenian people but can not remember when OOPs answered this before I read your story Oh boy me trying to give you a history lesson think perhaps your history teacher is perhaps not suited to his job more like a butcher of history!

I'm armenian. I go to an armenian private school in LA, CA. Alot of LA knows about Armenia. It's a fairly small race but we're very very loud. We need people to know about us. It's kinda annoying. Armo's will do almost anything for attention.
Cher is of Armenian desent and so is Mark Keragos, Scott Peterson's and Micheal Jackson's lawyer.

Armenia is a country near Turkey. It was under Turkish rule and is now independent. There was a genocide of Armenians in the 1910s by the Turks as a response to Armenian nationalism.

Do not forget the Armenian genocide during WWI... Many people do, and many countries still deny it.
That is why I remember Armenia.
