I really need the best VoIP service possible. From my research, I 've narrowed it down to Vonage or Skype. I thought about Qwest but, they seemed expensive. I will be moving to Podunk, Alabama (lol..not really the town's name) where we can't even get dsl.
Also, is there a VoIP that allows you to be on the phone AND the internet at the same time? Any help or guidance is much appreciated!!

Be careful, there may just be a Podunk Alabama.

If you cannot get broadband how do you intend to use a VoIP carrier. VoIP carriers require you to have a broadband internet service and to use the broadband carrier as the transport means.

All VoIP carrers permit data and voice simultaneous use.

Keep in mind however that NO CARRIER, regardless of brand name, who uses the general internet for transport can assure voice quality. For VoIP to work, voice packets are given priority transit through the network and they are marked for priority provided you are on a private network. The Internet does not respect priority markings. This means that voice packets will arrive in a first in first out mode as they travel the internet. Because no two packets travel the same way, some are subject to delay and loss because they are not given priority. Voice quality is therefore unpredictable. If you want TDM quality voice, which is what we are used to in conventional wired voice lines, you cannot use the general internet as the transport means.

I suspect that conventional TDM voice is available even in Podunk, Alabama.

I believe your should extend your search. There are voip plans where you can use your cell phone and not be charged for long distance.

You can allow others use your long distance plan if you program their number.

Cheaper than Vonage
