This is not a joke. My neighbor who is Scottish, said his ancestors were endangered servants. I didn't ask him what that meant because I wasn't interested in that conversation

I said I wasn't interested in that conversation, therefore I wasn't paying attention to the way it's pronounced!!!

An indentured servant is one that is working for someone in order to repay a debt to them. An endangered servant is my butler who went to get me a beer 30 minutes ago and hasn't come back!

Indentured servants were not slaves. While they may not have been treated with the best of care, indentured servants traded their work for a certain number of years for passage to America.

Its indentured servants.
An Indentured servant is an unfree labourer under contract to work (for a specified amount of time) for another person, often without any pay, but in exchange for accommodation, food, other essentials and/or free passage to a new country. After working for a number of years they were free to farm or take up trade of their own.

Indentured servants....not endangered. They were people that would have their passage over to America paid by wealthy people over here. Then to pay off that debt they would work it off. So it isn't exactly like slaves, they were allowed to be freed after they worked off their debt.

If you weren't interested in that conversation, why has it stuck with you to the point you posted a question about it? You WERE interested, and you were also mistaken as to what the word was - no big deal, there's no shame in that.
An indentured servant was a slave.

its indentured servant. It's one step down from slavery. A wealthy person would pay someones passage to the US and they would basically be slaves until they worked off the debt.

I thnk you mean "indentured servants". They're people that were brought to the US and forced to work as slaves until their debt for being brought here was paid off. My family came as indentured servants, as well.
