He seemed like a genuine good guy. He wasn't a perfect President, but he did what he thought was right, in my opinion. He might have been the last true conservative we will have for years to come and might have been the last true conservative we will ever have. I think one of the only mistakes he made was giving amnesty to the 9 million illegals but had he saw how much of a problem it would be in the future, he would not have done it.

He was certainly one of the most prominent leaders in the 20th century. He overcame the challenges presented to him & set America on the right path, but over the past 20 years we've managed to screw things up pretty bad.
In retrospect he was one of the last "true conservatives" & honest leaders we've had.
I think his funeral spoke to that!

Was he?? I don't know! But let's look over some facts.
It was under his adminstration that Ben Ladin was trained by our CIA men. Look at how that came back to bite us in the Assets. He didn't increase taxes however he created new taxes. That's when Social Security and medicare taxes become two separate taxes instead of just one. Don't hike up the taxes just add new one very republican.
He can take credit for the biggest military cuts under a republican adminstration.
The amensty thing is also coming back to bite us in the butt too.
His ecomony might have been alright however it was going into a recession. A recession is what H.W. Bush inherited. If not for that he would have been re-elected again.
So was he the greatest president? No, not by a long shot.

No he was piratically responsible for putting the middle class down and making it harder for Farmers of America, to make ends meet. He was a huge supporter of outsourcing a lot of jobs in America to places like china, and other 3rd world countries (at the time) That later made them over take us on the industrial stage and now they are a mighty country as we loose more and more esp Since this GOP was in office.

One good thing was he helped end the cold war...but they say it was mainly George Bush (his VP) who could take the claim for that one.

Also it is known that his last years in office he was having dementia and was not capable of much.

Bill Clinton was the greatest President because the middle class had the money to spend back into our econamy. That made America strong, and a superpower.

Remember he had a GOP congress. I think that is the best mix.

To some of the voting public he was a farce. Conservative, he ran up a national debt that was second only to W,s. During the late 40s and early 50s when he was cheating on his wife with Nancy, the paranoid freak carried a gun as he was convinced that the Commie's were after him. Can't even begin to cover the mess he made out of the state of Calif. and the mental health system. Oh, that's right when he became Pres. he did the same on a national level.
Best Pres., my as*.

No he was not. Star Wars spent billions and we got no defense system from that money. He fired all the air-traffic controllers for daring to strike. He was involved in Iran-Contra and he did give amnesty to millions of illegals while turning a blind eye to the employers of illegals. I wouldn't call that conservative or great. Nice guys doesn't necessarily make good Presidents.

Ronald Reagan should have stayed in acting. The NAFTA timelines presents him as one of the first and strongest backers of free trade and movement for North America. He also came in and busted the Unions. So I went from four years in school, two years in the field and Ronnie decides apprentices aren't needed. I ended up raising my daughter on minimum wage because he was just another rich guy who forgot half of his constintuency. Pffft~ I did like the "downing" of the Berlin wall during his time of Service, Friend2Friend, J

Other Reagan mistakes:
Massive gov't spending.
Trickle down economics.
Encouraging deficit spending for the gov't and the people.
Allowing financial education programs to be cut from schools (as did every president after him).
Holding onto Chrysler's loans after Chrysler tried to pay them back way ahead of time, just in an attempt to make more money for the gov't at the expense of one of the few private industries under Reagan that was doing things ethically and properly. Carter gave them a hand, they worked their butts off to make the most of it and then Reagan tried to destroy all their hard work.
Allowing ketchup to be part of the dietary needs of school students (wasnt that Reagan...now I cant remember--scratch that one if not)

However, he made it cool to be an American for the first time in ages!
His gov't spending was an attempt to help the economy, similiar to FDR, he just applied it wrong, but so did FDR for quite awhile.
I wouldnt say he was the best, but of the recent ones he is probably near the top.

When Jimmy boy was Prez and I tried to buy a house in 1979 the interest rate for a GI loan was 19%. The market was as in the mid 20's depending on your credit score.

By 1983 it was down to 12.5%, homes sales were going up and up. By 86 they were down to 8%.

What a economic failure......NOT

Ronald Reagan barely knew he was president.

He was another puppet. Like Dubya.

Now republicans are trying to distance themselves from Dubya, and keep on trying to get people to remember reagan - and all the great things he did in between telling war stories that were actually movies he was in.

He was an amazing President. People who claim otherwise either were high during his entire presidency or weren't even alive. Excellent avatar by the way!
