I guess if Lackey or Haren or Sabbathia or Becket want to start the All-Star Game then they should have played well enough to get to the World Series. It's Leyland's choice, plain and simple.

Go Verlander!

No, Beckett (Boston) SHOULD be the starter then followed by Verlander...as they are 1-2 right now with the best records. After Verlander? How about Santana of the Twins?
Be nice of the Twins to give a bit more run support because he has only pitched one bad game so far this year and in fact should be 13-1 but of course isn't...his ERA is 2.83 with 114 K's.

To whoever said Beckett should start just because he has 11 wins:

Verlander is 9-2 with a 2.78 and 85 strikeouts.

You can't just base it on one stat. Lackey, Verlander, Beckett, Haren all have great cases to start.

And more than likely, who ends up starting is going to come down to who hasn't just pitched for their teams. If say Beckett pitches the Sunday before the All-Star game, he likely won't get the ASG start.

The all-start game now a days is a joke because fans are inherently stupid. For example, as of last week David Ortiz was in the lead at 1st base, which is ridiculous, he could eat 1st base and thats about it. Based on pure numbers, Dan Haren should be the starter, Verlander is also surrounded by much more talent then Haren, Don't get me wrong, Verlander is likely to be a stud for years to come, but at this point in the season, Haren is the man.

No way in hell.... Danny Haren will, and if for whatever reason he doesn't it'll be Josh Beckett, so on and so forth, after Johan Santana, Felix Hernandez, John Lackey, and C.C. Sabathia, maybe.... Big deal, he threw a no-hitter, so did Anibal Sanchez, where's he now? In the minors and out for the season.

The verdict: Not only will Verlander not start, he won't even pitch

No Beckett should but Jim Leyland will pick Verlander

Even though there are more deserving pitchers (Beckett, Haren, C.C., Lackey, etc.) than Verlander i have a feeling that Jim Leyland will pick him or possibly Bonderman just because they play for him.

I think Haren or Beckett because Haren by far has the lowest ERA and Beckett has the most wins, but it does'nt matter as long as the A.L. dominates again.

Leyland will probably pick Verlander or Bonderman (From HIS Team!)...they're the BEST and are NOT Rookies. I personally would be happy with either...the more TIger's the BETTER!!! :D

GO TIGERS!

Each side is going to use six or seven pitchers who will throw an inning or two each. It really makes no difference who starts. The objective is not to upset the pitching rotation when the season resumes.
