When the bible speaks about the Godhead, it is describing a quality.

The NIV and NASB at Col. 2:9 uses deity which like the word divine, means

1 a : the rank or essential nature of a god

So what Paul said agrees with John at John 1:1, Jesus (the Word) is divine, Jesus as a god, has all the nature or qualities of God, but is not God himself.

When you say 'God is divine' you don't mean, 'God is God'

You mean that God has the qualities of a god.

God has love, goodness, mercy, even power.

Jesus has these same qualities, why because he is God?

No because he copies or imitates his God and Father.
Rom 15:5,6.
