I know that they sell really cheap ones at Walmart and Target but should I really buy a guitar from here? And since I'm just beginning is there anything I should know? Tips on practicing, accessories, songs, or anything that a beginner should know are very welcomed!

Get one at either Sam Ash or Guitar Center, some sell for under $100 and they're great quality (Mine was like $80).
Tips:
1) Prepare your fingers for alot of pain, use a pick whenever possible and rub aloe vera on your fingers after you practice.
2) Practice everyday, don't practice 10 hours on satuday and hope it makes up for the rest of the week
3) Don't loose patience, its a very slow process
Songs:
The Beatles- Blackbird
Pink Floyd- Wish You Were Here (intro)
Pink Floyd- Is There Anybody Out There

*edit
Gibsons, Ibanez and Yamaha are good, and if you want cheap, Epipones are cheap but they aren't very durable.

1. Get your guitar from a reputable source - Guitar Center, local music store, or internet - Music123.com or musiciansfriend.com

2. You will want a decent acoustic, a case, a strap, a few picks, some guitar polisher, polishing cloths, a metronome and a digital tuner. This is minimum.

3. There are dozens of good beginner guitar books out there. I'd start with the library since they're free and you can try a few out.

Good luck - I've been playing the guitar for over 30 years and can say it's one of the best things in my life.

musiciansfriend.com Can get a telecoustic for under $200 good guitar and nicely priced. Get a chord chart or book. Start with three chord progressions like G, C, D, E, A, D, D, G, A E, A, Bm, till your fingers get used to it and develop calluses. Keep your strumming hand loose not stiff, and feel the rhythm Using a three chord you can fake most songs but just in case here's a four chord G, E, C, D Keep your fingers at a 90 degree angle to the strings. DOn't forget to order picks, order different types and hardnesses till you find what you are comfortable with.
