Well, i'm not in the clear yet, but just about. I'm 9 months pregnant and am proud to say i don't have a single stretch mark on my stomach! Thanks to Palmer's Stretch Mark Cream. I do have one VERY small one on my boob, but that's because i didn't start applying it there until later, i was just so concerned about my stomach, lol. I think that even the one i have on my boob will go away though. I think it's already starting to fade, thanks to Palmer's, but i'm not sure yet. Also, i've heard great things about Vitamin E oil. I'm going to apply that to my stretch mark, in addition to the Palmer's, and see if it goes away. Don't listen to these people that tell you that you're doomed with bad looks for life! They're just miserable. I've known many woman who look great after pregnancy. Just gain pregnancy weight slow and steady, you're not REALLY eating for two, lol. Eat healthy, exercise, apply Palmer's :) And continue to do so AFTER the baby too. Also, genetics may be a factor, but only to a degree. If you sit on your *** and do nothing to prevent stretch mark and pig out on ice cream all day, of course you're going to have stretch marks regardless of genetics! My Mom got stretch marks, and yet "I" don't. Why? Because i DID something to stop them! There is hope, don't listen to all these negative people, they probably didn't do anything to prevent them but put a little cocoa butter on while blowing up like a balloon, and are now miserable about it, and we all know misery loves company. Also, breastfeeding for the first 6wks helps your uterus go back to it's original size, and helps you lose weight. Any longer then that, IDK because you have to continue to eat extra calories as if you're still pregnant which i would think would prevent you from continuing to lose weight. The first 6wks is the most important anyway. You don't have to go longer, and if you're like me, you don't have the TIME to go longer if you wanted to! Lol. Breast pump or not. Good Luck! And congratulations!

I never used anything to prevent them and, as a mother of 4, I have NO stretch marks except on my breasts. None anywhere visible though. All of my babies were between 8 and 10 1/2 pounds too. I was a size 3 when I got pregnant and only weighed 110. There is no prevention for stretch marks. It has to do with the elasticity of your skin when you become pregnant. Of course, many believe cocoa butter helps. Really, it just keeps the skin moisturized to it stetches more easily. Any good moisturizer will do the same thing.

I have the worst stretch marks. I look like a bear attacked my tummy. My sister has had two kids and didn't get stretch marks. My mother has had 4 kids, had stretch marks, but not like mine. They think I am a freak lol. I asked my doctor what I could do about them because I've been using tummy butter but it doesn't work. My doctor told me that none of that stuff works and that they will fade after the baby is born. However, he said there is always lazer removal if it is necessary. And as for prevention, well there isn't any way to prevent them. I mean you either get them or you are one of the lucky ones who don't.

I am on my forth pregnancy and I have never had stretch marks on my belly, only my thighs, and they are so small, they can't get noticed really. I just always use lotion, no matter what kind. I use lotion every day and I did so whether I was pregnant or not and my doctor says that has a lot to do with my not getting stretch marks. Well taken care of skin is the best way to avoid them.

no way to prevent it.
Its a 'genetic trait', not the stretch marks, but the way your skin grows. If your mom had stretch marks, then more than likely you will too.
You can only ease the itchiness with lotions. Even the Cocoa Butter lotions don't say they can prevent them. Just read the bottle.
But, to answer your question.... with my first one... maybe a few really light marks. He weighed 6.1
With number 2, I got a few dark ones on my hips and behind my knees. She weighed 7.1
With number 3, the last 3 weeks of the pregnancy I got them all around my belly button. She weighed 8.6
Congrats on the baby!!!

I had enough stretch marks to get from FL to Michigan without a road map. I did use cocoa butter every day, bath oil, everything! We joked about putting stick butter or spray pam on me too. I got so big my stretch marks got stretch marks - and that was with one! No, after I have scared you, I went and talked to a dermatologist. She told me that it is the type of skin. If your skin is elastic, you will have better luck, of not, you will be more prone for them. She said the lotion would help, but it is not a cure. Good Luck!

I was doing great up until I was 35 weeks. That's when the first of many stretch marks appeared. I was using coco butter which seemed to work at first, but now all it does is help soothe the pain and itching that I have. Mine are so sore. It feels like I have a never ending sunburn right around my bellybutton.

I've got stretch marks and I used Coco butter throughout both my pregnancies. I think there is a level of genetics to how well the prevention treatments work.

It really depends on your genetics. Genetically, your skin might stretch well and not get any marks. Does your mom have them? My mom got them after her second child (me).
To prevent the marks, gain only the recommended amount of weight and start using cocoa butter NOW, even if you're 15 years old. It will really increase your skin elasticity.
