The difference between us is that the USA will back a winner whereas the UK will back a looser.
I would love to adopt the US justice system - where crime does not pay.
Whilst the US people seem completely gushing (that's the impression from tv programmes etc) and over the top I think sometimes, they are to be envied for their positive attitude to things.
Of course, there is good and bad about every country - I don't want to typecast as I hate it when it is done to Britain.
I have never been to the States but friends that have say they bend over backwards to be friendly and helpful.

I think Americans really like the British, but I don't know what they think of vice versa (or would you like to rephrase your question?)

We don't really mind them if that's what you want to know.
Some of us are a little worried (to put it lightly) about the cultural situation involving Muslims though. Especially after the bombing on 7/7/2005. Although this has nothing to do with the people per say but we're afraid of your government is going to take the PC route and that your friendly ties with this country will be cut in the coming decades.

I'm an American. I really do like the British. The ones I've met on line are always really nice. The people I met while I was there were so friendly and helpful. The shows they produce are top notch. In fact a lot of my favorite TV shows are British. Their theater is fabulous. They have great museums and gorgeous countryside.

It is said we are two cultures separated by the same language. I think it is dangerous to judge the USA by the TV programmes we see in GB. Let me say this i would rather have a free trade agreement with the Americans than this bloody awfully mess called the EEC for many reasons. Finally i am saving like mad to buy a Harley Davidson Sofrtail custom but why are they so expensive in GB.

I must say, I think highly of the British. We do have differences, but what two cultures do not? I like the TV programs we get from Britain, and that really warped sense of humour, it's a riot! I have met folks from many different countries, and have had good and bad experiences with all of them, the worst were from India, they are hard to do business with (from my experience). That's the individual (at least that's how I choose to take it). We all have our share of idiots I have never been to England, but would not mind a trip there before I die.

Americans in general like the British because although we have our differences, we also have many similarities.
There are loud obnoxious jerks in every country and sometimes i don't like the comments that British posters make towards us, but i don't judge the entire nation by the actions or words of the few.

I've been to the States many times, and found the people to be almost invariably friendly and welcoming. I found my English accent helped me to make friends there very easily, and most Americans have a healthy curiosity about the world beyond their shores-the US education system doesn't really teach a great deal about world politics and geography, which can sometimes be mistaken for a lack of intelligence by people who've never visited the USA, when nothing could be further from the truth. It's a shame the American people get the deflected flak for the actions of their government, in much the same way we get criticized for the actions of Phony Tony whether we voted for him or not.
And if you know your history, whether you like it or not (and I know plenty don't), we would be speaking German now without the help of the USA. Fact.

Bases purely on media reporting, most Brits thik Americans are neurotic Hollywood types, ghetto criminals and rappers, or spoilt white trash like Paris Hilton.
Those of us who have actually MET an American find them just like any other nationality - some are great and others need a good slap.
Its not good to generalise.
If im going to be specific, I think your president is the greatest danger to world peace since Hitler. And i think Tony Blair was a pretty good second!
