That depends a lot on what you mean, exactly, by 'sacrifice', 'family', and 'goal'.

For example, sacrifice could mean everything from just giving them up to personally and gruesomely slaughtering them. I bet even most people who answered that they don't have any goals that would be worth sacrificing their family for might GIVE UP their family if they could be assured that their family would not only continue living, but do so in a 'happily ever after' kind of way. Most would consider this to be quite noble.

Likewise, I generally consider myself loosely related to just about every human on the planet. And science generally agrees with me. I do have very few (not none) goals that might be worth killing every human on the planet for. But it does sharply reduce the number of them.

Some of my goals also don't necessarily include me. Yes, I would personally slaughter my family and even myself if I could be assured that it would result in a lasting world peace. I'll go further than that - when facing with the ongoing suffering we have now, wouldn't it be monstrous NOT to sacifice your family if that was all that was required to end it?

I can't think of any goal that I would want which means that I would have to sacrifice my family. In some families certain goals may be hard to achieve especially if they did not support you but I would never abandon my family just because they did not support me. I would always hope that they would come around to my way of thinking!

Nothing is really worth sacrificing over my family, but if we take Mahatma Gandhi for an example, he sacrificed his family life to be able to achieve his goal! And his goal was not one for himself but for his nation. SO if someone has a similar goal to Gandhi then maybe they won't have to sacrifice but choose between those two: family or the world?? However, personally I wouldn't be able to reach anywhere without my family!! :-)
Great question, little PT!
Thank you!

I cannot imagine a goal worthy of attaining at that cost. If I had to sacrifice my family to achieve a goal, I would choose another goal to pursue.

If the goal is to sacrifice your family then both are achieved.

You have no idea what you would do in any situation until you are in that situation.

I don't think I would ever have a goal that would put my family on the line in the first place.

To achieve my goals would be impossible without the love and support of my family!

Its a bit like running a race, my family are my energy, my pace, my strength, my hope - without them, I can't reach the finishing line!

Still, I agree with others - that I can't think of any goal or achievement that is worth sacrificing family or friends over!

Thanks
Dude, great question! :-)

Sacrifice my family - what else??
If I didn't do so - it wouldn't be my goal I was striving for.
you see. everything is a choice.
Either we do things or we don't.
there is no other way.

I would sacrifice myself, instead of my family.
