ive changed the pump, filter, carb and fuel lines but still can't get fuel to the carb. not sucking air that i can tell. motor will run if i keep spraying fuel into the carb. any ideas on more things to check would be great. does the cam have to be in a certain position when installing the new fuel pump? no pumps in fuel tank. and no tank filters. this is on a 85 F250 w/ 351.

Like what has been mentioned check your work, make sure you didnt mess something up. also the fuel sending unit could be bad. and there is always a chance of a manifold vacuum leak.

Isolate the problem by pulling the line at the carb inlet. Crank the engine and see if you get fuel. If you get it the problem is probably a stuck float in the carb. If you get no fuel disconnect the inlet to the pump and run a line from a gas can to the pump inlet. Crank again. If you get fuel the problem is between the tank and pump. If it's between the tank and pump try blowing through the line to make sure it's clear. If it is then drain all the gas out of the tank. Once it's drained pull the float and line module to see what the problem is. The sock filter inside the tank may be clogged. I always check these type of problems stage by stage before I spend hard earned money on parts. There's nothing more frustrating than buying a bunch of parts only to find out they aren't needed and won't fix the problem.

Are the fuel lines hooked up right? Do you have more than one fuel tank, sometimes that valve will fail. Is the sock filter in the tank clear?

I'd be pretty hard to get the fuel pump to bolt up if the cam is in the wrong place, you'd break the pump arm off.

Try getting a gas can and hooking up some line to the intake of the fuel pump stick the other end in the can and see if it pumps.

you have a pick up line inside your tank,it could be clogged,or simply fell of inside your tank.under your car the fuel lines are metal at the front it goes to rubber lines take the first rubber line off fuel should run out gravity feed.if not check pick up line inside tank.i had a chevy truck with two tanks my switch that changed from one tank to the other went bad.so i could only use one tank till i replaced the switch.do you have two tanks,if so check you may be on empty tank and not know it.just make sure you have fuel in both tanks.

Float is stuck in the up position, could be gunk on the needle valve

sounds as you have either a pinched line or a messed up pick up tube in the tank
