Dealer mechanic is trying to sell me on new spark plugs saying that I will get better fuel mileage. Is this true??

Yes for several thousand miles then it will taper off to what you are getting now. Biggest reason to change plugs every 30,000 miles is so they don't "fuse" to the block. Anything threaded into a tapped hole for 75,000 miles may never come out.

How long has it been since they were changed? If they are worn out then yes that will reduce mileage, not a great deal, but some.

They are only making money off you. All plugs do the same thing. Just some plugs are better then others. Autolite are better then champions to me.
