Yes he gets some money. Anything that was a signing bonus is gauranteed. That is what is being paid when you hear of "cap penalties" Tank will count against the bears salary cap until his contract is over.

No. The NFL does not have guaranteed contracts.
Instead the NFL has signing bonuses. There are deadline dates throughout the off season that if a player remains with the team then a certain portion of their contract will be due. This is why you will hear of players being waived during the spring (usually they were due some type of bonus).
Some money may be due to a player based on previous performance levels. Those monies can be collected even after the player is waived.
This is a nice system because players can get a certain amount of money up front in a signing bonus, but then they have to earn the rest.

The only thing that a player will get is whatever signing bonus money he was promised. Many times that carries over several years and the signing bonus money would then count on the teams cap until paid up. Other times it is paid up front all at once. If that is the case there would be a cap hit on the team only for the year the signing bonus was paid.

The player gets nothing.
Now if it were a coach that got fired, he would get the whole value of his contract paid out just like he was still employed. Unless another team signs him, Then the original team only has to pay the difference between what he currently earns and what he was earning before he got fired.

According to "Bob S", Tank hasnt been cut yet....maybe he will catch up with the rest of the world sometime this week. Unless he is still on satellite delay...but to answer your question, No! No guaranteed money in the NFL.
