i have this microphone thing that goes with my computer and i want to record myself singing,,but i tried hooking the thing up so i can record myself but it dosnt work,,is there something thati am doing wrong?

Go to your volume controls, and show advanced settings. your Microphone may be muted.
Make sure the mic is plugged in to the correct hole. It usually has an icon of a mic. Check your documentation.
Use the sound recorder program, tap the microphone to see if the level meter goes up and down... this tells you if the mic is working or not.

put the microphone in the microphone thing in the back of the computer its normaly red
then open sound recourder and start singing away then save the song to your desktop and then when you go to my space open the voice file and that should be it

Download Audacity, you can record and edit yourself singing:

Make sure that you plugged your microphone into the red port.

you need a recording software....go on download.com
or, if you have an apple, you should get garage band...you can record with the computer
