I see people saying its racist that blacks have a black history month or that they have BET or that they are now getting better jobs first. My thought is white people have every other channel and then they complain because we get 1 channel for ourself plus they have CMT county music tv. Blacks have one month the whites have 11 months. Whites get mad because blacks get picked first now, but what about the 400 years of slavery?? Should blacks get something for all that work??? i mean look who invented air conditioners a black man and how many white people use it in there car and at home every day, thats just to prove that if your a racist you use something a black man made and you need a black person to help you. And why do whites so go back to where you cam when there not from here so should they go back to England???

I think that people white or black that think they are better because of there skin are idiots. I think that if you can trace that your family was in slavery and worked on a farm you should get special things or money for all the work they did. And blackes have invented over 100 things in the late 1800's which help change our country to a better place

It seems to me that any race can feel hostility towards another. It's not just blacks and whites...it's everyone. I understand what you're saying but I think it wrong not to consider the whole picture. The reasons for racism may not be justifiable. It might be there because of what a person learned in life. There are a million reasons. I'm not a racist and I have friends of all races. I enjoy talking about subjects such as this because I feel I can learn a great deal about other cultures. My friends agree and we have some long-out conversations about this. We all end up learning something. EMT

Let’s just walk down the list of things.
First a little about me: I am Native American, I am 30 years old and I have only a High School Diploma.
Second:
Black History Month isn't even recognized by congress it is something that has been forced onto the public by a over zealous media combined with a embarrassed white majority who want to make up for their grandfather's mistakes. Do a little more research.
Third:
As far as all the other channels being white and the other 11 months are for whites. I think this is a HUGE pile......
Here is why. If someone to make a White History Month (which would be hard considering all the sub groups of white) or a White Kids College Fund or White Entertainment Television. They would get sued and lose. If you’re looking for equality and the removal of racism you need to remember work with people not for yourself. You have to fight your own racist opinion.
Fourth:
I have a lot of black friends that would be pissed and would turn you inside out for saying CMT is white only music.
Fifth:
You say 400 years of slavery right? Well lets go back to those same Jewish you are talking about and their enslavement. Which happen to be 1200 years long. I think your still owing some people time boss.
Sixth:
The man who created Air Conditioning and the chemical process was Michael Faraday he is white and English.
Seventh:
As far as going back to where they came from or anyone one going anywhere. Its over, most Native Americans realize this at this point. I hate to say it but in the next three to five generations my race will be gone as a sub group in America. But we will not be forgotten, I don't want anyone gone. I want you all to shut up and put up.
AKA get over it, life goes on; it didn't happen to you (with a select few exceptions)

Air conditioner huh. That's the best you can come up with. Are you telling me that is all blacks have contributed to American society?
Do some research and possibly some grammar exercises before posting some B.S.

#1) White people do not have every other month of the year or every other channel on television. I see no problem with programming that is targeted to a particular audience, so I don't think there's any sense in complaining about BET. BET is no different than, let's say, the WE channel (Women's Entertainment). It's simply audience-specific. However, as I said, white people don't have every other channel on television. There is a difference between programming that appeals to a particular audience and neutral programming that happens to include celebrities of particular races. A program isn't "white" simply because you see white celebrities. Since you mention CMT, that is a perfect example. While CMT isn't neutral, it targets people who enjoy country music (and other programming). These people, while they are stereotypically white, could be white OR BLACK or anyone else for that matter. It isn't in any way a "white" channel. Understand? And as far as the months in the year are concerned- What makes you think that white people have 11 months? We are not encouraged to appreciate "white history" throughout those 11 months. You could argue that "white history" is taught throughout the year, however this has nothing to do with the point you are making. They are completely different issues. If you have a problem with the history that is taught in schools and such then you should make your voice heard. But why should we separate "white history" and "black history" in the first place? ALL history is equally important. We will remain separate in our future if we continue to separate our histories.
#2) Better jobs first? Well, this DOES happen. Whether you believe it or not, it has happened to me. While I agree that blacks do still experience racism in the work force, whites (and others) are experiencing it as well. Affirmitive Action does nothing to solve the problem of racism. There will always be racial discrimination as long as such programs exist- programs that perpetuate the misconception that race and skin pigmentation matter. Racial discrimination is racial discrimination whether or not race consideration results in a positive or a negative. Your race and the color of your skin should not matter at all in any given situation. When I speak on this matter, I am usually told that I should be thankful since Affirmative Action benefits women as well. I don't want to benefit from it, as I don't believe that my gender should be considered any more than the color of my skin.
#3) Slavery is irrelevant. Did you endure slavery? No, you did not. You didn't endure it, therefore you are owed nothing. I didn't perpetuate, therefore I owe you nothing. No one living today had anything to do with slavery. No one living today was a victim of it, and no one living today perpetuated it. Therefore, as I said, the issue of slavery is irrelevant.
If it DID matter then whites would be owed something as well since many whites owned white slaves and many free blacks owned both black and white slaves. Our history books don't teach us that, but it is a matter of fact that you can easily find if you research past laws. But, as I said, it is completely irrelevant. We are not our ancestors.
#4) Air conditioners. A black man didn't invent the air conditioner. But it wouldn't matter if he did. It's not a reflection of black people as a whole. Do we use items that were invented by blacks? Yes. And we also use items invented by other races. People of many different races have made contributions to this country and the world. However, just as entire groups of people are not responsible for the negative actions of others, entire groups of people are not responsible for the positive actions of others. You can't claim that a great invention is a reflection of all black people and then claim that, let's say, a crime committed is NOT a reflection of all black people. It's either all or nothing- and I say nothing, because you have nothing to do with the actions, behavior, or achievements of others.
#5) Why do whites say go back to where you came from? Not all whites say this. And those who do say it are wrong, as their logic is false and based upon nothing less than stupidity.
#6)"Better yet if you mother was killed or raped should i tell you get over it happen last year???" ----It's ridiculous to compare such an incident with the historical horrors you speak of. If my mother was killed or raped, I would be angry with the person/people responsible for the atrocity. And you would be heartless to tell me otherwise. What people are telling YOU to do is to stop being angry with those who are NOT responsible for the horrors you speak of.
#7) "Why is it ok for white people to hold a grudge against china or japan whoever bombed them during pearl habor?? I mean why keep talking about it???" ----It ISN'T ok. Who told you that it's ok? The fact that some people are ignorant enough to resent entire groups of people DOESN'T make it ok. And doing so is the equivalent of prejudice, as you are judging entire groups of people based upon the actions of a few. To do this while complaining of racism is nothing short of hypocrisy.
Bottom line is this: Yes, there is much room for improvement with regards to some of the things that you mentioned. But you're approaching the matter in the wrong way. Should there be more recognition and appreciation for the contributions that blacks have made in this country? Definitely. And we should fight for it. But it shouldn't remain separate from "white history" or the history of any other race or group of people. Our history should be united as one. And the entire truth should be told- not just what makes people feel "warm and fuzzy" and not just what people want to "harp" on as an excuse to harbor resentments. And it should be told for the purpose of education, not for the purpose of feeding into the falsehood that we should coddle any particular group of people.
Are there very few black entertainers on television and in movies compared to white entertainers? Definitely. So, then, say something about THAT instead of complaining about untruths such as BET being the only "black channel".
You should do a great deal of self-evaluating and seriously consider that you are perpetuating racism and that you are promoting segregation. For true equality to exist, race (or gender, religion, etc...) cannot be a consideration. We cannot fight prejudice with prejudice, and we cannot fight segregation with segregation. Doing so is a cycle that never ends.

You want reparations for your ancestors being slaves? Is that for justice or because you are too lazy to get a job?
