Circle Pits ARE often witnessed at metal gigs

It's a bit of a giggle really and a safer version of a mosh pit... Bin stuck in a few of them and trust me running around in a cricle is much safer (except when some poor sod falls over and gets trampled all in the name of freedom of expression)!!

Because any other shape, and the lid could fall down in there when putting it back in place...the covers have o be heavy in order to prevent them from flipping up when walked or driven over. So you dont exactly want someone having to precisely put them back in place... its easier to slide them back into place. A circle is the only shape that is impossible for the cover to fall in the hole. Square, Rectangle, Triangle, Oval... they can all be turned to where the cover can fall into the hole.. but not a circle. Also, man hole pits are a pipe, leading into a pipe... which is round.

They are just a bit of fun...
Active and a massive release of atmosphere, adding to the style of the music....
I love them, and if there is one at a gig I'm at, I'm in it!

haha depends if you're into it. i usually go in occasionally during some really good songs. i got a good punch to the face at a deicide concert a while back

one and only reason...to make the promoters more money! they are a sure fire way of seperating an audience,they should get rid NOW! bring back the old ways where you could stand where you want!!!!!!!!!!!!!
