It's clear that nobody wants mob boss Guiliani to be their president. He's already shown that he will grandstand in a time of crisis and then use fear mongering as a pretext to keep control over people. No one wants that anymore.

And the media clearly wants to pretend that Ron Paul doesn't exist even though he's won every major mainstream media poll and garners the most support on the internet.

So what do the Republicans have now? They have to push this Fred Thompson becuase they have no one else?

Ron Paul has won about every major internet and text messaging poll.

BUT Fred Thompson isn't a candidate yet and the media carries on about him?

Makes a person wonder!!

Thompson appeals to the conservative element of America like none of the other candidates can. Guiliani is seen as too socialist on most domestic issues and McCain and Romney come off as untrustworthy. Paul's advocacy (justified or not) of a non-interventionist foreign policy is something the right just cant handle. No wonder they're looking for a dark horse candidate.

The news media likes interesting news, and Thompson has kept his candidacy interesting by not actually declaring it yet. He's also an actor, and the media loves celebs. Guiliani hasn't done anything /recently/ to pull the media spotlight.

That's probably the real reason.

Fred Thompson knows the power of TV and Media. That's the only thing going for him. He will tell you what you want to hear, and since he's an actor (a decent one), you will not even realize you are being manipulated. We don't need another phony "everyman".

Fred Thompson has the same problem as Romney and Rudy, they were all pro-choice a few years ago, which will not sit well with a lot of conservatives.

1) Giuliani is NOT a mob boss.
2) Paul hasn't won anything. Every scientific poll has him way down in single digits.
3) The main stream media doesn't support the Republicans. They just pay attention to Thompson because he is new. Giuliani is also the Republican most feared by the Dems. If the main stream is trying to pull him down, it's to boost the Dems chances in 08.

Guiliani is all hype! Thompson may be real, the jury is still out.

Thompson seems to be somewhat low key. I think the electorate is tiring, a little, of people who seem to want it so much. I'm always a little suspicious of their motives.
The average citizen is someshat low key, and maybe they associate more with Thompson.
