Generally using any personal information for passwords is not a good idea. Get a small book or use index cards and record your passwords on that. I excellent way to create a password is a series of number and letters, nothing that would come out of a dictionary or a sentence.

It could be since that is one thing that people can use to try and steal your identy. Although your birthdate is very known to all of your friends, if someone you don't know gets ahold of it, it could turn ugly.

Granted, it would be difficult to do anything with just someone's birth date, but it's a good start.

you should avoid using any personal info online that would be publicly displayed with identity theft as one of the fastest growing crimes you should stay on the safe side and create a screen name that does not have any personal info in it.

birth dates are ok just dont use your social security number telephone number or anything personal. hackers can use these numbers or names to mess with your pc.
