6000+ is of course a dual core, you just left out the X2. Anyway, yes they are compatbile with each other.

is the board an amd or intel?then look at the specs of the MB see how many pin board it is and it will also tell you the max cpu cap.Read the box the info that comes with it if you still waiting for the board ask the supplier those questions.or read the info about the board.
