I understand that the rain that is currently mercilessly pelting us is because its a bit still out in the ocean at present. Usually there is a front coming off the sea, pushing our weather onward, towards Europe. As it is so still, the rain clouds are just circling around Britain, dumping down until a front comes and pushes it along.
Global Warming? I dispair for some of the comments put on here. Sure, going by the patterns that the ages have shown us, we are well overdue for a dramatic climate change. But hear this: If you dont think that human overpopulation, our greedy consumption and attitude that anything in this world is ours for the taking will not make a deadly impact on this planet (on top of what is already happening!!) you are seriously lacking in a grasp of reality. We are living on a miracle - this jewel of a planet leaves me in awe every day. Do not remove yourself from the responsibility we all have as each of our actions leaves its mark and adds to the total. Whether you are just too busy one evening and put your glass jar into the bin instead of the recycling to the large industrial decisions made for profit - these decisions are made by individuals and we will all be accountable. If not us, then our children and the innocent creatures we live with. I truly believe that as we as humans have cognitive thought we have a duty to be the stewards of this planet.
I am not a hippy.

A lot of non-scientific "science" is spouted as an answer to this. I'll pick out some: "since records began"...so, at best for the past couple of hundred years, but realistically, the last 40 or so years. Hardly a representative sample, given the geological time periods over which changes in climate take place.
"The last 650,000 years" as someone on this thread quoted. What embarrassing fact happened 650,001 years ago that made this figure the one to quote? Oh yeah...CO2 levels were higher than they are now, with no man-made intervention. Let’s be clear: CO2 levels vary NATURALLY. As, indeed, do O2 levels – they were much higher during the Cretaceous period, which is one of the factors that allowed dinosaurs – and insects – to grow so large back then.
Current weather patterns are within statistical variation. I may be slightly older than some of the respondents to this thread, but I remember snow in June in the UK. Equally, I remember being sunburnt in April.
In the short term, variations in weather patterns are far more explicable as a result of sunspot activity and normal statistical variation than as a result of global warming. You will NOT notice global warming happening between one year and the next. This is not to deny that global warming is happening, it’s just to say that we should be very careful about what we target as the bogeyman. CO2 isn’t bad, it’s necessary.

the cause of the rain is because the sun evaporates the water from oceans, lakes, rivers, etc. And with a hole in the ozone layer above Antarctica the temp is getting hotter so then the ice melts which causes the oceans and others to rise. Once the water starts rising that's where global warming comes in its getting so hot now that the amount of water evaporated is doubling the more rain clouds are form making more water to rain on us

global warming /absolute rubbish,if there was a real globel problem would the councils still keep Bering the rubbish every day in the ground ,knowingly that they could be sued ,would the electric gas and fuel company's sell there stuff ,ant the chairman of bp for a example got grand children do you think Head harm them its a political agenda ,that we are sunk into Africa as always been hot the poles have always melted ,the problems rant global warming but global sense .Africa they kill them selves because there not civilised ,the same as iraq and so on the main thing is if they sat down and thought well build a well Theda be now drought ,if they killed there cows instead of keeping them for religious crap the yd eat , so global warming is crap ,the government want us to use are refuse bins so the local councils charge us more ,and the government doesn't have to subsidise the local councils its all propaganda believe or not ve to little girls I'm safe in the knowledge that they'll survive if I'm wrong then i will be more upset than any one .......dont believe the hype

As the man says it's always rained and weather changes, it's natural. Around here they had snow in 1946 that closed the roads around for up to 7 weeks and it wasn't seen as the end of the world. We've had floods in the 70's and droughts as well. Hot weather periods and miserable grey rainy weeks. It makes sense to conserve what we can and I'm all for recycling and all that, as long as it doesn't take more resources to recycle in the first place BUT the weather is the weather and it's being hyped up for the news and newspaper industries.

Right People Baring Mind I am only 12 but yh ... It is raining sooooo Much because a) when it was really hot the sun beemed down on the ground witch created heat above the ground and then is is rising then gets cooler as it rises and then forms clouds and then rains and oviasly it was really hot. another reason might be that b) Because of the North Atlantic Drift Lol << i feel so posh sayin that word lol >> well anyway it is where the wind picks up the water from the see by us and then it forms really heavy clouds and then starts to rain..
YOu may take my advice lol But you may not because i am only 12 and not the really geius person Ever lmao but you might think i am BUT I AM SOOO NOT lol.. My source is ... lol

The simple reason for a change in climate is because of the earth's orbit. It is circular at the moment, but it goes through cycles of orbiting the sun in an eliptical orbit. The Earth travels further away from the sun in this eliptical orbit so cools down; hence the ice age. At the moment we are consistently closer to the sun due to a circular orbit, so perhaps this is what is causing our global warming. I dont look forward to global cooling again, and I am sure it will happen.

Firstly, yes Iam bloody worried about what we are doing to our planet, I don't think we are bright enough to work out exactly what effect we are having on a myriad of complex overlapping Eco systems, but on the other hand I do think we are getting a lot of con artists babbling about freak weather, even ITN News gets in on the Act now and then, showing the effects of weather and launching some pseudo scientist into a long tirade.
If you look at the history of weather patterns in the UK you find one thing ..the unexpected and a country totally unprepared.. so it has always been, so it shall always be so!!!

Global warming happened at the end of the Ice Age and it WASN'T OUR FAULT!! Climate change is due to forces of nature which try as scientists might, we have no control over.
I think it's because this month it is a BLUE MOON.
On Saturday 30th there will be the second full moon this month. And we all know that the moon affects the weather/tides so I'm blaming that.
