You don't really need a kit...
Just buy a thing of dye, which is only a few bucks I think, and cheap rubber bands.

(and yes, 'thing' is a technical term :P lol)

As I mentioned previously, we usually use RIT brand dye for our projects, but ewe also enjoy experimenting with other products, such as Simply Spray.
We used several different folding techniques, which I have posted along with step-by-step directions so you can fild your project the same way if you like. Each project below also includes colored photos so you can see what the finished project looks like.

I would recommend you use dye for fabric. If you check the papers, you can usually find a 40% off coupon from A.C. Moores or Michael's. It will bring the cost of the kit down to about $10. By the time you but the fixative and the different pachages of dye, it will end up costing you more than the kit. Look at the site below for folding techniques.

I have done tie dye with natural things too. Onion skins make a brown color, many plants and flowers make a yellow color. It takes a lot of natural matural to do it and you have to rince the thing in vinegor to set the color. Cotton hankies are good for experimenting. Make sure you use pans that you will not use to make food with and ventilation. The dyes at the grocery store work well too.

If you put bleach on the spots that you want white and then wash it the bleach will completely run through the entire shirt ruining it. so i would suggest just going out and buying a new shirt and more tie die.

Theoretically you could do it with food coloring but I would probably wash out the first time you washed it.

Good luck.
