Queen Elizabeth has already stated that tradition will be followed and that the throne will be passed on to Charles instead of going to William. This subject came up when there was speculation that she may 'retire' from beeing queen and pass on the throne to either Charles or William.
When Queen Elizabeth passes on Charles will become king. Camilla will gain the title 'Princess Consort', but if there is sufficiant support she may be granted permission to be queen.

I'm only glad you said when, not if.
For information - the only way that the throne can pass directly to William is if Charles decides the forfeit his right to the throne. The Queen cannot make that decision nor anyone else, only Charles.
He's been preparing for that role since birth, he knows what needs to be done.

He'll be an old man when and if he takes the throne. Shades of Edward VII, who was a grandfather of 59 when he became king. Charles will have a short reign, about 5-10 years. It won't be too bad.

There really are some fasinating things I have found out about Prince Charles. He isn't such a bad guy.He has helped raise two sons to be proud of. I wouldn't want to judge him.

From a Yankee perspective, it would be horrible, but not any more horrible than having Bill Clinton as a President. Still, if I were the Queen, I would force him to abdicate and allow William the opportunity to prove that he is not an adulterous lech like his father.

I dont think Charles will ever get the throne. I think his mum is going to skip right over him and let Wills take over.

I don't know, he did make that "tampon" comment to Camilla on the phone many years ago. Could be interesting/entertaining to see what else he has to say.
